Dystopia, I don't see that many yellow tips indicative of nute burn or over feeding. I do see some natural normal yellowing of older leaves.

I would still do the Drain and Replinish anyway.
The leaves are plenty green, any yellow appearance is just the light and me trying to compensate for it. I'm talking about the tips of the leaves turning brown and crispy. I think maybe the Nitrogen level is too high and it's Nitrogen burn. Anyway, they're flushing right now. So much for the one-reservoir change experiment...

wow week 7. they must be sativa right? they are very sexy, lots of trichomes. i love how they grow/press againt the screen growing still verticle. if your at week 7 it looks like you mihgt have 11-12 weeks flowering. kick ass man.

have you harvested this grow yet? if so how much per plant did you get? It looks like you combined the scrog technique with the vertical light is this your first scrog or cage grow?

Yeah, I'm thinking 4-5 more weeks.

This is amazing

Thanks!

No, the pictures I put up are usually up to date; still got a ways to go. Not my first ScrOG, but my first Vertical ScrOG.

Well, I drained my reservoirs and flushed overnight. Here I am draining the flush water from the top reservoir to the bottom reservoir and through the pump to a bucket:

The flush water barely rose 30ppm’s overnight, so I don’t think there was much salt buildup. I don’t know, I’m starting to think the tip burning is due to a potassium deficiency; potassium is necessary for the plant’s water transport and these plants are probably transpiring heavily. It’s about 86* next to the light:

So I bumped up the Hammerhead and am going to see if I can get the pH to stabilize around 5.8; potassium becomes more available at lower pH.

Here’s what it looks like all buttoned up:

Notice the two tubes coming out of the top; I recently added two cheap co2 generators. I’m hoping they will help keep the buds dense in the higher temps:

There are buds growing all the way up to the cool tube. It’s hard to see the layering because of all the fan leaves; I tucked a few out of the way so I could show how the buds are layered. It’s pretty much like this all the way around the light:

Hey man not sure if you have any craft stores but they normaly have that stuff.

Like Michales craft store.

I had a huge light bulb and the bakearound and the hurricane were to small so i just bought a huge flower vase and then went to homedepot and got a class cutter, cut the bottom to the vase and bam now the vase can be used for a cooltube.
yep was just in there and the sell for $7.99 and are 10" tall and 5" wide across the top
bty way great grow and tutorial i have learned a lot thanks

I'm starting to wish I didn't do that water change; I'm having a hard time getting the pH and ppm's to stabilize. Should have left well-enough alone...:wall:

That is friggin' amazing! Stable ph and ppm are overated! LOL! What are you gonna do when you get the growth spurt from that res change! LOL! That may be screwing with your ph and ppm for now.

Hey, Dystopia,

I've spent several days researching using or adding a small amount of nitrogen in the Flowering Cycle. I posted in my Tutorial and on the SH BP thread that I was trying it anyway and getting favorable results. Uncle Ben here says he does it and we all ought to add some..
Books and internet says do not do it, it affects taste is the only reason given to not do it.

So I am trying it and I like what I see.
Most BLOOM of Flowering nutes have NO Nitrogen at all.
Advanced Nutrients DOES add nitrogen.

What are your thoughts on Nitrogen in Bloom cycle?

Yeah, I agree you should be supplying nitrogen in flowering, for sure.

I stay on veg nutes for three weeks after flipping to 12/12; I use the standard 5 ml Grow, 10 ml Micro, 15ml Bloom ratio for my flower nutes, so they should be getting plenty of nitrogen.

Let me talk a little bit more about lollipopping, to ease Roseman’s fears. In my opinion, whether or not – or how much – you should lollipop is dependent on several factors, which include:

1. Lighting: I would not lollipop if I had sufficient side-lighting or penetration. So if you’re growing with CFL’s shaped around the plant, or with high-wattage bulbs and especially multiple high-wattage bulbs, then you shouldn’t be listening to me, listen to the guys that grow that way, and they say NO PRUNING. I only speak from a lower-wattage, single light frame of reference. I need to milk every lumen of available light if I want to get a decent yield of good bud, and pruning is one of the tools I use.

2. Grow style: I wouldn’t prune unused side branches if I was growing SOG-style, but I wouldn’t vegetate, either. If I didn’t have the maximum number of plants in there, then I would vegetate long enough to fill the canopy in flowering; any side branches that won’t make it into the flower box should go in my opinion. Remember, I planned the grow to fill the canopy with primary branches; I don’t need any secondary branches to fill it up. I also wouldn’t prune if I was growing trees, but I would make sure my lighting was sufficient enough to light the sides. I would prune as much as necessary if I was growing in a screen, it would get way too dense if you didn’t. And so on.

3. Strain: different strains require different levels of (or no) pruning. No need to prune a sparse, small-bud plant, or a stout indica whose side branches grow nearly as fast as the main stem. And some strains react more favorably to pruning than others. You need to know your plant’s traits when planning a grow.

So yeah, use common sense when lollipopping – and remember that every single grow is different and unique; there is no one single recipe that will be optimal for everyone.

If I hadn't pruned my plants in the ScrOG at all.......... well, let's just say it would be a little crowded. Prolly to my detriment. I do agree that most new growers always arrive at the incorrect thoght, " My Buds, or undergrowth, aren't getting any light. I better remove these pesky fan leaves to make room." lol. That's prolly why all the fuss on the topic. I did it, I even asked a lady botanist I know and she told me sure. Make more room for new growth. PSK! Planned pruning and butchering your fan leaves are 2 totally different things. IMO.

Last year, My x-wife lollipopped her grow . (Lolipopping = removing the lower third of the plant so the so called ENERGY goes to the top buds)
She used the same seeds I used, I gave them to her. We both VEGGED 5 weeks.
She averaged an onuce and a half per plant. I average 3 or 4 ounces per plant.
Both had side lights, neither was trying a small SOG.

Just like Uncle Ben, and Brick Top, I honestly believe that LOLIPOPPING is a cruel hoax and a word made up to prank new growers and as beneficial in growing as Cat Urine.

I saw the pictures you posted of your X's plants. That wasn't lollipopping, that was stripping the plant of all folliage except the flowers. Of course growth is going to stop if you do that, I would have had a heart attack on the spot if somebody did that to my plants :fire:.

Think of it this way...the root mass and the leaf mass are roughly equal and support each other...chop either one up and the plant should suffer...I would NEVER chop up my roots...and yet you do it all the time, with no apparent ill effects...doesn't make sense to me, I still won't do it, but the proof is in the pudding...

Weren't you just talking about adding nitrogen during flowering? Urine is a great source of nitrogen...urea is used to make fertilizer...of course, you won't see me peeing in my reservoir, I'll leave it to the fertilizer companies...:bigjoint:
