Does topping/FIMming lead to less potent product?

I have heard from one credible source that topping and FIMming plants cause a decrease in potency of the bud, is this true? I am currently running three shiva skunk females one topped one fimmed and one untouched so in about three months i will be able to answer this question by myself but for now anyone with knowledge please fill me in.

They will take longer, due to healing but thats about it.

I heard this also, and believe it comes from the fact that even though it may double in tops a plant is always genetically weaker once it has been topped. Still though I'm yet to notice a negative effect and I top almost every grow.

Ohh yea Topping, i'm topping my plants but i have no idea about potency. I wouldn't think it would loose potency, i cant see any logical reason why it would...

I'm curious, what was their reasoning and was it backed up by scientific fact or "feelings".

thanks a bunch for the quick responses everyone, the source is a professor at a pharmacy graduate school in northern cali who is currently writing a book on how to maximize yields and get an ounce for every ten dollars spent, the first time round. I don't know what scientifically he has to back it up but thank you all for the reassurance and i think i'll continue to top and fim until i personally notice a difference

If there is any degredation in potency, I would imagine that it's so minimal that you couldn't possibly notice it.
