Don't hate the cop...
Hate the game.
Good luck.
You've got a great head on your shoulders unlike most folk on this thread. I am very forthright with my thoughts and opinions, no matter if it's the real world or an internet message board, so of course I take partial blame for the tone of this thread as well, in my opinion the tone of my posts is one that gets readers thinking... and hopefully changes a few viewpoints.
But hey, it's the internet, don't get mad... don't get upset... just discuss your opinion in whichever way you feel most comfortable. As for Tampa PD, no I don't know any officers there, but looking at their call logs I can clearly see they are out protecting and serving, to say otherwise is just blindness.
About the firefighters, well... they're out there of course... but most of the time they're in the station house, eating good meals and watching TV while the police are always out and about. Plus, you never see FF's or EMTs going into a situation where police are needed first, it's always the cops that go in and make sure it's safe for the other rescue personnel to go in.
And last, about Trooper Lane... there's nothing in the article that says anything other than two vehicle collided and wrecked, therefore you cannot state any further as that would only be speculation. On patrol
could be enroute to a call, who knows...
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
“Step forward now, Policeman,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?”
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said,
“No Lord, I guess I ain’t,
Because those of us who carry a badge,
Can’t always be a saint.”
I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was rough.
And sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills would get too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I have wept many tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you have a place for me here Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I’ve never expected, or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the Saints had often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
“Step forward now, Policeman,
You have bore your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in hell.”
