This is one thing I think we both agree on. Good post medman! Here's basically mine:
In some minds, guns are linked to murder and other unlawful uses. Yet, they seldom view gasoline, matches, wire, kitchen knives or hobnailed boots as tools of violence. People are familiar with those everyday objects and know that they are not evil magic. The will to kill is the paramount ingredient in homicides. Absent that will, no weapon would lift itself to harm a human.
Conditioning by television or newspapers makes some view every gun as a tragedy in the making. Evening news often show a picture of a gun even when talking about a beating which involved feet and fists. Without a real-world basis for comparison, it is easy to assume that firearms are possessed of supernatural powers. After all, if our understanding of computers was based on Hollywood, wouldn't we all live in fear of killer robots and rogue mainframes?
Judicious use of complex tools separates humans from all other species. To throw away one of our main evolutionary accomplishments out of misguided fear would be akin to wishing away the well-developed brain to make births easier. The loss of functionality to us as human beings would far exceed any potential gain from such a trade.
good one!The reason it is guns all the time is because as people we have become lazy.
We do not want to have to run after you with the knife....lol
Agreed. Nice post. The problem isn't the "gun" itself. It is the intent of the person(s) wielding it, agreed again. Here's basically mine:

The Marijuana laws are draconian at best, I disagree about taxes, just pay them and move on, no use making your life miserable about something you can do nothing about, bringing freedom to other countries should not be our concern, afterall, we gained our freedom internally, Guns used to initiate violence against people who harm nobody is rather vague, I agree with the premis, but suspect it is a ruse against taxes again. The police are a necessary evil, most are somewhat corrupt in my opinion, a standing army is I suppose necessary, but deployment accross the planet is just a way to hold court on other countries and allow corporations to rape and pillage. We should stay the fuck out of other countries business, but the military industrial complex will make sure that doesn't happen. All those spy agencies and internal police agencies like the FBI, the NSA, and our favorite, the supposed to only spy on foriegners, CIA are in my opinion, way bloated and overfunded. My contribution to smaller government would definently include getting rid of these assholes.,Agreed. Nice post. The problem isn't the "gun" itself. Do we agree that the use or threat of use of a gun to obtain something from a peacable person is wrong?
For instance guns used to enforce somebody else controlling YOUR body (marijuana laws), guns used to extort money (taxes), guns used to "bring freedom" to others in foreign countries, guns used to initiate violence against people who harm nobody...
Wait....I thought you wanted bigger govt. At least that's what I gathered from your leftist views and support of the healthcare bill. I agree with most of what you say but how are you going to make a stand with your AR-15 against a stryker and a brigade of trained soldiers? We better hope some generals stand up and side with us.my veiw on guns, gettem while you still can. when the shit goes down, and if obama gets his way it will, it will be the only thing standing between your family and big bro. especially when they start throwing people in jail for no healthcare. did you hear bamster answer that question the other day? he totally aproves of tossing people in jail for no insurance. that oughta scare the balls off everyvody, even chicks. aint it funny how libs dont mind setting cop killing murderers free but want to throw you in jail for not having insurance. mind blowing.
well, i see it like this, i dont give a fuck how trained you are, if u enter my house and i know it, someones gunna die. i would much rather go out in a bloodbath than on my knees.I agree with most of what you say but how are you going to make a stand with your AR-15 against a stryker and a brigade of trained soldiers? Thanks. I score one every once in a while. Seems like conservatives and this liberal agree on Gun status. BTW, just bought a TT33 pistol, Russian issue. 1500+FPS. Will penetrate 12 layers of Kevlar. They are pretty cheap too, Look them up on the net and see if these might work for you guys, Cops beware.
That's a noble sentiment. I would obviously defend myself and my family as well but if we are to have any hope of making a stand against big bro you will need a hell of a lot more than a couple of rifles. Even if we the people organized into militias we would need heavy weaponry in order to be effective and not just a 3 line obituary.well, i see it like this, i dont give a fuck how trained you are, if u enter my house and i know it, someones gunna die. i would much rather go out in a bloodbath than on my knees.
I have been confronted with a similar situation, however, I was armed as I keep a flashlight, firearm and cell within quick reach.woke up at 5am the other morning to terrified screams for "HELP ME!!!!!". ran out front in my pajamas with nothing more than a bicycle flashlight. there was a car pulled halfway into my driveway coming from the wrong direction. two dudes were trying to stuff a young girl into the back seat of the car. she was screaming bloody murder. i was witnessing a kidnapping.
i'll tell you all what happened next if you first tell me YOUR reaction to this scene.
this really happened so careful with your answers.
