I was just reading about serotonin and it's effects and importance in humans and animals alike. Plants and fungi also contain levels of serotonin. Now, I was also thinking about humans and war and peace. I was wondering, it says on wiki that when crayfish were injected with serotonin it made the test subjects become more social, they displayed social dominant traits. So I ponder, what if serotonin is one of the big factors in humans being the most dominant species on earth, arguably. I believe that war is a product of pent up aggression, from our natural, animalistic survivalist traits. What say ye'?

crayfish also shoot chemicals from their antennea as a social feature and plays an important role in dominance. at my college, GSU, we have one of the leading professionals and authorities on crayfish and he did some pretty boss experiments. he injected ink into the ducts used to fire or spray this chemical, and observed the effects.

seretonin is a relatively unimportant compound in many regards, one could argue that melatonin is far more important (not so much for humans, but in many mammals it is the key factor for when they reproduce) it works as a sleep wake cycle

as far as your concern about war, you are making some huge assumptions. actually war is very logical, what better way to get your point across or get your way is to subjugate or exterminate the other side

You're right it was a very broad generalization, however I do know that war however semingly logical is still very counter productive. Medieval wars were more conservative when it can to loss of money. They killed their enemies burned and buried the dead and went home to their wives and children. Now, we burn it all down and then pay to build it back up. What say yee'? I am not arguing your point at all by the way.
What are you studying? I don't want to go out on a limb and assume things.
