I have always been under the impression that one or two plants in a tub that size would be the max. Looks like I need to remake mine and put a few more in. How much water do you add daily to that tub?

I'd say five grown out clones is about max on this system. Three full grown through flowering if from seed. If seed you want to start six if non femmed, and three or four if they are.

They drink an average of a gallon a day during veg and early bloom, and upwards of 2+ gallons in late flowering

I'm thinking of adding an external Res this time when I go into flowering. We'll have to see if they drink less after adding the chiller. If that's the case I might not have to. I just want to be able to take off for the weekend and not worry about my plants drying up on me.
 
Tried some Ak48- one week cured...I'm lit, my scissors are sticky, and my closet smells like a skunk choked on pine needles and died in it's own shit...but when I touch it it smells like berry, must have been the Sweet. Still a little homegrown tasting but it's coming along.

Thanks for the good pot bubbleheads!...time to make hash.

Looks to be about 3 ounces..maybe more, battery on my scale is out.

Simply put, clones have a tendency to reach up and not spread out as much. But they certainly produce well under the right conditions. As a reference the pic I showed a Page back which got all the comments were five clones.
 
clones are also faster. you already know the sex, they are mature enough to go straight to flower after you root them if you want. With seed you have wait till they show pre flowers, hope you dont have males. that can take up to 2 months. sure you can force flowering before you see pre flowers but its not recommended. Kinda like kids having kids if you know what im saying.

exactly - right on Doc, they're already anywhere from 2-10 months old and just aching to flower. Takes no time at all to start budding. :leaf:
 
INSTALLING THE CHILLER

So I drilled through my table to keep the lines short and the flow as high as possible. When the pump came in I almost lost it because it's a bit smaller than I thought and I figured there absolutely no way It would pump the water back up into the Res. But I suppose with a closed line system it doesn't take much. Nice and Neat....

Right down to the pump which is isolated and on the concrete floor for heat dispersal.

So I hooked up the lines and the instructions say to run water through the unit for 30 min. So I let it run for a 45min in a pHed bucket of water. Didn't include pics sorry. But then I shortened the lines and hooked it up to the system. Let it run for 20 min and checked the pH. Spot on at 5.8 so I doubt anything from the machining inside the chiller changed the water at all. It is meant for fish, which IMO are a bit more finicky than plants. Anyways Hooked it all up where it sits to check the flow. Flows perfect...

Put everything back together plugged it in and turned it on. According to the chiller the .99 stick on thermometer was spot on at 74 degrees. I set it for 63* and
I'll check it in an hour and see how quickly it cools the
tank. Whaddaya think guys? comments welcome.

I like how it has the built in thermostat so if it gets too cool it has a heater as well and will bring the temp back up quickly to the desired level.

Thats an awesome unit. How much does it run? My temps are steady in my tubs at 70. Would I see any benefit form a chiller? You said you have yours set at 63. is this just to test the unit or is that the temp the roots prefer?
 
Total Cost $275 costly, but well worth the time saved running up and down the stairs with frozen water bottles five times a day for the last year. Well, well worth it......

Its $250 for the unit, $25 for the hoses and installation kit. 62-65* is the ideal temp for the Res. The colder H20 is the better its ability to hold Oxygen.
Therefore the more oxygen the plant is getting and the greater the potential to use the nutrients given. And to use the Light given. Cool Water is where it's at... You don't know what a relief it is getting that done and over with....

:bigjoint:Since Ive Followed Rosemans New Tutorial. Soaking seeds first and soaking rockwool in PH Ballanced water . Two Ladies
have sproted at 40 hours my first grow it took
6 days Now thats FAST;-)
