[it fits my grow conditions and bugget . i knw hid are superior but not to the point of making newbies get a $300 dollar lamp with out the nesesary equipmemt like exaus fans and temp control reflector ect. look at roseman grows , this dude is going to pull atleast 12 oz out of 700 watt cfl... now thats impresive. with a ligth bill under 200 bucks ... no heat stress and no creazy genetics , that you hear now days simply skunk and northem lights , good old relaible strains.

small opps vegg with t5 or cfl to decrese spenses and they work fine period , ask about it most reliable people that grow small opps , not comercial would tell you so , i trow in a 150 watt hps in my bloom closet and i see improbement but also increase my temps to 90 from 80...and end up havin to trrow in an extra fan ... my family is big with children who watch tv and play xbox allday , i cant afor a 300 ligth bill seriously...

But it goes to show you, CFL's are certainly useful tools when your first starting out.

Well, My last grow was a major success. I just wanted to cut down on the leggyness of the plant. I notice any seeds I start off with the HPS do some stretching in the sprouting stages. I am going to go take some pics of some primo bagseed right now to show you guys.

Heres 3 females, Just went into flowering about 3 days ago. They got started on 12/12 for the first week and a half then went into veg for 2 weeks, and are in flowering for 3 days now.

Yes I appear as I know nothing aboout growing. But I planned to try 12/12 from seed to see how fast they show sex and their growth pattern. Then I decided I would put them into veg again. Yes stupid I know. This was all in all just an experiment.

So, theres a zigzag pack just to give reference between the node spacing. I noticed some nodes are stretched alot, some arnt as much. The hps has been around 12-14 inches away from them. 430watt. No cool tube. Temps are around 25c when the lights on

The world is flat.......oh yes dont bother replying a syou are on ignore now.
you have got to be kidding. money grows on trees buy a light and believe in the plants. if you still use cfl you might be living on a flat earth. but keep trying to stand up for crazy light set ups that take 5 1/2 months to grow a plant. ill be lounging with my good light and smoking better pot than you that i grew faster and then ill sell the rest and make 20x the money as you, all out of a closet with a light in it. but yeah other than starving plants of the color spectrum and taking way longer to do way less cfls rule woomiester
if you have an hps get a mh conversion bulb and use that for vegg. why use cfl if you have a better light. dont listen to some of that other shit (amiture hour)

lol, forgot to put you on ignore, are you just plain thick, I use a 250watt cfl for the first 2 WEEKS MAXIMUM THEN SWITCH TO HPS. You have never tried it so you cant comment. I have probably been growing for the the same time that you have been breathing. I am the ultimate believer in new thinking and new ways to grow. Metal halide is ok for veg but high powered cfl's beat them hands down I have run both with clones to prove this to myself not to you. *goes to press ignore, as cant be arsed to argue with teenagers*

I did some research and it does appear that plants do better off with CFL for the sprouting stages. That being said. Im gonna go pick up some CFL, I like smaller less stretchy plants. The more compact the better! Thats what Im aiming for.

glad you did some research, that is the way to learn. Experimenting is the other way of learning. MH is old hat nowadays, envirolight and maxibright have both made cfl systems that out perform MH in the early veg stage. If you only veg for a few weeks, like me (height issues) then high output Cfl's followed by HPS, with a lot of lst and fimming, is the way forward.:leaf:

I have a 250w hps, and have sprouted under it but yea mh blue spec or cfl's are better for them, i think if you dont have access to cfls or blue spectrum the best way to sprout is on the window sill in natural sunlight.
