Your experiences Flowering w/Fluoro Tubes(small grows)

Hi. I would like you to tell me your growing experiences with Fluorescent tubes. Goods and Bads. What were your results?

Reason I ask is I am currently on my first grow. 2 Indica clones that I have just switched to 12/12. They look great so far and are under 6(40 watt) tubes. Now that I am flowering I hope they do good. I know I would get more out of them with better lighting but this is what I have and am going to use till the end. Next grow I may try something different. Only prob I've had is the stems getting red/purple, but I hear that quite common.

My PH is adjusted and I am using nutes. Just wanna know some of your stories and if you have any tips for using tubes. Thanks everyone.

Anybody?!!
I'm growing for my first time as well with 4 lights, two hotter ones up top that also appear to have a darker portion of the spectrum than the 2 "growfluoros" (Walmarts finest) that are on the sides. planted 2 seeds, letm grow then tore out the male immediately.

I'd obvisouly like to have better equipment but im two weeks into flowering so im stickin to it. Seems to be effective, its very healthy (in soil) with the lights very close to each aforementioned area. Bout 2 feet tall, maybe a bit less, with a lot of nice little branches sticking out that I think will have nice top buds on them.

Im two weeks into flowering and have been guiding the small branches to the side lights by pulling the big fan leaves down just a big with thread, not saying that this is the proper manner....

Ill send a pic if you want on, otherwise it looks like a pretty standard plant, nothing extraordinarily bushy, but definitely healthy. I have kept the lights within a few inches of the plant, including the side where the fan leaves are tied to meet the canopy of the undergrowth (where more buds will come from)

does this help? I need help with temp. How can cold can my lady get before it stunts her growth? its in my VERY unfinished basement that is pretty drafty, but stays around 60's from heating system down them.
