if you tie them down youll have plenty of room. my sativa dom is only 22 inches tall with the 4 gal pot its in.

you should put a fan in there too... keep the lights as close as you can without burning your plants and put a fan that blows on them gently to stimulate stronger stems.

i dont have a fan but i do have an air pump that pumps fresh air into my box. seams to work ok but i dont really have anything else to compare it to.

lol, do you have any other ventilation? you need to get some air moving in there. you can get a really cheap fan at walmart for about 7 dollars, just a little desk fan will work ok. you can set it on the floor of your cab and point it up through the lights to keep the heat off of the plants. As your plants get bigger you will probably need to get rid of a few as well.

how much air does the air pump put in there? it should have a cfm rating somewhere.

the pump doesn't have a cfm rating on it but i cant imagine it being very much. and no theres nothing else for ventilation i had a small fan on for a couple of days but it made a buzzing noise so i got rid of it. will my plants grow faster with a fan? or just stronger?
once i know the sex im going to olny keap the best 2 possibly 3 plants.
also im adding another light today and getting another y splitter tomarrow to bring my watts up to 150

thats getting a little better. a fan will help strengthen your stems and keep fresh co2 blowing across your plants. this is essential for them to grow. your box isnt air tight right? it looked like the back had a thin opening. this might help you circulate air but a fan is very beneficial. as long as you think the air in your box will recirculate in a short period of time, i would say no more than 1/2 hour... you should be ok.

to prevent a fan from buzzing you could just set it on a folded t shirt on the floor of your box. that should reduce the vibration. the fans i got form walmart that were only 7 dollars are really quiet and i have 4 of them. 2 in 2 out.

i think ill go turn that fan back on now ontop of a tshirt. my cab isn't air tight, it almost was but then i removed the pressboard from the back and stapled a garbage bag to the top so the whole back of the cab is more or less open.

as long as its not the inner workings of your fan making the noise you should be ok with a t shirt/ sweatshirt under it.

now lets addresss the issue of light.
you said that you will be up to 150 w, this is pretty good for an enclosed cab... for a start anyhow. i dont really think that this amount of light will grow 3 plants though.
150w spread throughout how many lights? what is the spectrum temperature rating for the lights you have? how many total lumens do you have from your lights?

a good ratio to have for your lighting is 70/30. for veg you would want to use 70% blue spectrum and 30% red spectrum and the opposite for flowering.
for example: if you had 100w total you would want 70w blue and 30w red for veg. 70w red and 30w blue for flower. this will help replicate the suns rays for the given time of year more accurately, although, its still not real close...

a good thing to remember is that a good goal to shoot for with light is a minimum of 3000-5000 lumens per square foot of grow space. so if your cab is 2x2 you would want 12000-20000 total lumens. spreading your lights out to the sides and under your plant will greatly increase the efficiency of your lumen usage.

sorry about the amount of text... hope all this helps!

oh yeah, make sure you keep those cfls 3 inches away or so. no farther than that unless you get some higher wattage ones.

i just set up that other light, now im up to 5 27 watt cfl's 4 are the 3500k red ones and one is 6500k blue spectrum, by the end up the week the new lamp i put up with have 3 y splitters on it so then i'll have 8 27 watt lights so just over 200 watts. im not to sure about the lumens, probly around 2000 each. if i can find one of those 100 watt cfls that has an output of 300 watts i'll through that ontop of the other lights i have. problem being i cant find one though... not at rona, home depot, home hardware, wallmart, canadian tire or anywhere. the biggest cfl's i've found are 67 watts i believe and i was using 4 of those for the 2 weeks of veg i did.

and just so people know im not growing the plants big because this is kind of just an experimental grow so i can work out all the bugs in my method and set-up before i pay the ridiculously high price for feminized seeds.

there is nothing wrong with bagseeds... you lighting sounds decent now. i wouldnt bother with the really big cfls as they are kinda hard to manuever in tight areas. you are best to stick with numerous smaller cfls.

i like to keep em small anyhow, less smell, less chance of someone noticing, less chance of getting busted. personal grows for personal use are the safest kind.

thats true there is nothing wrong with bag seed if it was good bud in the first place. but these seeds came from a plant that was grown in 100% compost and cow shit so the soils ph lvl was way out of wack so the buds ended up really loose and more leafy then like nice buds... so i dont know if the buds were crap because of the strain or just because of where the plant was grown in a dumbe spot. so just incase the strain is shitty i want to buy some seeds before i put to much time into these plants

yeah, seeds arent that expensive but its definitely a good idea to fine tune your system on a bagseed grow before you start spending money on it. the cultivation of marijuana can be very time consuming and addictive so make sure you are prepared

your last post was at exactly 4:20... thats awesome!!

Dude, if you're actually in BC then your options are basically unlimited. If you can't find what you want from a seedbank in BC, there's one in Calgary, TO, and Montreal now. It's a domestic shipment, and in Canada (and most places other than the US) seeds themselves apparently aren't illegal until you sprout em.

If you're on a budget Mandala's beans are good and cheap. If I were in BC, I'd be growing FI, PK, or the Rom prob. Or the Grapefruit. Nexxt Generation and VISC have some really nice offerings...

im probly going to go to emmeryseeds in vancouver to get them but feminized seeds are expensive there. thats why i was wondering about buying online. lol and just because of the fact i live in bc doesn't mean its any easier to grow or get seeds.
