Sampson, I'm back. Hope you been good. Been a little delayed procuring everything. I've decided to put that v-drip thing in a sun tent. Any wisdom you care to break off re: any actual grows that have gone down usin them(good or bad). Don't have a fan yet, and could use some help on that one. I know I need an inline fine for exhaust @ the top of the tent. But do I need an intake fan @ the bottom, if so, which would u suggest? Also, I decided to drill out the ol 4 inch pots, & did get some good coco. Spoken to a few & read a bunch about people mixing @ least 30% w/ Perlite or hydroton. Already got some hydroton just in case. What you think? Hydroton @ the bottom of the pots to encourage the roots to go out the holes I drilled, or mix the hydroton in with the coco while fluffin it, a true mix essentially. Any help is of course appreciated. I'll grab perlite if ya think. Got rapid rooters, which I plan to stick straight into coco. Should I put any kind of rooting solution or other nutes in with the rooters. Gonna stick them under a 2' flourescent I got from HTG. Gonna def. need some guidance @ that point. Prob. lookin @ 2 weeks tops from now to be germin. Got that 400 watt HPS in top of tent. Thinkin bout openin front of tent & putting 2' flou horizontally facin in toward tent & plants. Whatcha think there? Sorry fo all the questions, just quickly approachin go hour & super pumped. Oh, also got good PH meter & a PPM meter is on the way. Thanks for all your time, look forward to hearin from ya. THanks for all help as always & stay up!
welcome back bro.. been good.. getting things around for my next grow and grow room expansion... things have been nice...
so i've never used a drip system myself... i have a couple things tho... it'll be hard to tell you what drip rate to start out at... anyone will tell you that.. so its a bit of a guessing game... best thing to do is find an average drip rate and start there.. if they need more increase the rate... they need less decrease...
your exhaust fan should be at least an equal cfm rating as the size of the tent in cubic feet.. so if the tent is 100 cubic feet you need a fan that is at least 100cfm... dont go much bigger as it will suck in the sides of the tent.. you dont need an intake fan.. the air will be drawn in passively... if you can get fresh air to the tent that would be best... or you may want to think about co2 down the road... if you do get an intake fan make it a little less strong than the exhaust.. its better to remove more air than to add it in so the tent pressure stay negative inside.. positive air pressures can cause warmer temps...
you can mix perlite or hydroton in with the coco if you want.. i would personally go with hydroton if you choose either... although i don't think it is needed with coco, it wont hurt either way... try mixing them all but 1 pot, keep that pot just coco... and see what happens... its really just a growers preference... it may be beneficial with a drip system tho, since the drip is constant and the coco holds a lot of moisture.. like i said tho, i would try both ways and see the diff...
rapid rooters are nice.. you dont have to add anything to them.. but if you soak them in some root 66 or other rooting hormone before adding the seeds it will help them germ and start out faster.... you can also soak your seeds for about 24 hours in plain water before throwing them in the cubes.. this will also help jump start germination.. leave them under the floro with a 24/0 light cycle until you transplant.. then change the cycle if you want to...
there isnt much reason to add a single 2 foot floro in your tent.. it wont put off enough light to really be beneficial.. if you put one on each tent side it'd be different.. but keep it simple for now...
glad to hear you got a good ph and ppm meter... those will be important for ya...
so i think that about covers everything... sounds like your on your way bro... keep me posted when things start happening and ill follow along.. anything else pops up before then feel free to ask!
hey simpson im in the third week of flowering using foxfarm tiger bloom and i wanna double the nutes, the npk is 2-8-4 if i add two teaspoons will that up the npk to 4-16-8 im trying to give the plants a nice amount of phosphorous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no.. nutes dont compound like that... it will still be the same values (they are just ratios), but the concentration of the solution will increase.. your more than likely fine to increase the nute amount tho.. just watch over the next couple days after you water to see if it adversely affects anything...
Hey simpson i got the night shots for you. ill add some day shots that i took around 4 this afternoon as well to campare the nights too.
Only one has started to droop so far but the other will do it later on im sure. it looks the same as this one.
Lemme know whatcha think.
first 4 from morning
Last 4 from night
temps stay the same throughout the day so i dont see heat being an issue.
now that i look at the pictures the other one is drooping too. just not nearly as much as the other. which is funny usually is the other one that droops a bit more.
they dont look bad... not at all... i was worried at first before i saw the pics.. i had a couple girls on my last grow that would go almost limp over night and perk up in the morning.. yours are not anywhere close to what mine where.. so you should be fine..
now if the drooping worsens, or they dont perk back up, then there may be a problem.. but i am confident in saying your girls are ok.!
Hi there I'm new to this site & growing mj ! Can I hav some input as to what strains are best to grow indoors for yeild ! Wud ak48 be a good yielder if grown to 4 ft in height with pots max ! What sort of yield should I expect ?
well first off welcome to the site and to the wonderful world of growing your own... you'll be way happier smoking your own than anything you can get... even if its not as good...
so your question is.... well... hard to answer.... mainly because there are a TON of variables... if you dont have enough light or strong enough light, the right temps, the right, well, everything, it can seriously damage yields...
plus a four foot tall plant is going to be pretty unpredictable.. if its a sativa dominant strain it will be taller and thinner.. if its an indica dominant strain, if it reaches 4 foot tall could be 1.5 times wider... your plants need to be grown for the space you have and the lights you are using...
to answer your question ill assume that things are perfect all around... now large yielding strains can basically be tracked to saying chronic crosses, big bud crosses, critical mass (a new stronger version of bid bud) crosses, and northern lights crosses are all good yielders....
as far as yield... well... you could get anywhere from 4 ounces a plant up to a pound maybe... again.. it just depends..
the biggest thing you have to remember is that more than likely your first grow will not be a great one.. it takes a lot of fine tuning and control of environmental factors to really push the plants to yield their best.. growing weed is easy.. growing high yielding, high potency buds is not as easy... overtime it is.. but in the beginning its a learning process....
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE
