Question on starting flowering..

Hello,
i am about to start flowering (first grow) the plants are now on a 20light/4dark cycle. Do i need to ease my plants onto the 12/12 cycle? or can i immediately start 12/12? thanks for any help.

My grow shop recommends a 36 hour darnkness to kick start the process... and it worked great for me:joint:

Thats the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. Just switch the lights to 12/12 there is no reason to ease into it.

I have done this except for 30 hours and have to agree it did kick start the budding process but is not necessary by any means.

Switch to 12-12. dont waste your time keeping the plants in the dark for long periods before you switch. I have done some both ways and the plant in the dark was a smaller harvest. All things being equal, I can only conclude it was the 2 days head start the plants that didnt sit in the dark got. The ones in the dark were just smaller again it must be the 2 days of no light.

so you advocate just flippin to 12/12,
then you say keeping them in darkness for thirty hours does kick start the budding process
so why do you waste 12+ hours of electric just flippin them when you could keep them in darkness for 30 hours
also could you tell me why your so rude

There's no scientific reason I've ever heard not to just one day make the dark period 12 hrs and go from there. It's all superstition.

however, i don't do that. I just flip it.

never seen ANYONE doing a side by side comparison on this things and without one its just tossing stuff around.

did you read this? I did it side by side. dont waste your time with the long dark. Plants grow in the dark? just how do they do that? They dont plants rest at night not grow.

man whats gotten into this forum, lotta angry ppl hatin on eachother in this thread, i have always jumped straight into 12/12 and it has worked for me, good luck with your grow, as for everyone else, chill...............................its just a weed :)
