I thought I would start a journal since I have been growing legally under Michigan's new medical marijuana law for the past year or so and kind of know what I'm doing now (a little bit). I have a pair of volksgardens, an 8 bucket waterfarm system, a gh flood table and res, and a few aeroponic units I built (but don't run them at the same time as to stay in my legal limits), I'm a hydroponic enthusiast! I had a few afghani #1 mother plants and some wierd strain that came out of what was supposed to be autoflower seeds (but were regular) that I am finishing up right now. I only have 11 plants in my first wheel right now, my second isn't going at the moment but I will show you the end of this little run for now and will continue this thread with my next grows with both wheels. They can hold 80 each but I haven't found a strain and pheno that worked in the wheel well with that many. I am considering using both 600 watt lights in one wheel for this next grow to see if it makes a big difference or not.

Here is my other volksgarden that's not in use at the moment. It's one of the first generation models that had an all metal frame, it's solid as a tank and probably cost them a lot more to make I bet. I actually got this one for a lot cheaper and wish I could have gotten 2 of these instead of 1 and 1 of the brand new generations that's all plastic.

This run is just about over, today is day 44 and the afghani's are only supposed to go 45 but I run them 55 usually. The other "mystery" strain hairs are starting to darken and the triches are all cloudy so it shouldn't be far behind the fast flowering afghani.

I have enough cuttings to fill both wheels to the brim so I will show that grow after this is over in this same thread. I could either try putting all 80 in one wheel and using both lights to keep them short (1 HPS and 1 MH) or putting 40-60 in each wheel and using a single 600 watt HPS light in each.

Found an old picture of my very first run in my first volks, I had about 6 strains, white widow, trainwreck, bubble gum, sweet tooth, blueberry, and g13. They were all way too tall and it was a real cluster fuck by the end, if I can find a picture toward the end of the grow I'll post it later.

Here are the nutrients I'm using, I've been really happy with super natural brand but I do have to leech it out every 4 weeks or so to prevent salt build up. Feel free to comment by the way.

Here's my veg tent, it's a homebox XL so I only had room for 6 of the buckets and my little good to grow table. My 8 afghani #1 mothers are in the flood table and a mix of white widow, violater kush, and a free blue widow I got on my last attitude order.

Thanks maximusbudicus! Definately the afghani #1 so far, it's not too tall and it flowers very fast so it doesn't have a chance to get to tall. I've found if I start them as short as possible they will stay out of the cool tubes "bleach zone" where it will bleach the buds white even though it's not hot there. I've been research strains to run and testing and my next "test case" is going to be the violater kush, and if that doesn't work I'm going to try out hash plant. I thought autoflowers and the wheel would be a match made in heaven but I did 2 runs and they were both horrible yielding so I'm back to testing short regular strains.

Nice work. That Volksgarden is crazy! I wish i had the space for one. I'm a WaterFarmer too, but I'm switching from chemicals to organics b/c the salt build-up is becoming a bitch.

Thanks Dr! Next round should be my best yet, this was just a bumper grow so I could prep up enough clones to do a proper run

I just harvest last night, looks pretty good for only 11 plants. Since I was using few plants and they were getting unrestricted light the buds are a lot bigger than my previous runs by far! I also just noticed this on the omega website, I guess the volksgardens are on the show stargate universe. I watch that show and haven't seen them, I'll have to watch them all again

Haha! You're right, there was a brief shot of one in one of the earlier episodes, and one of the scientists was talking about "working in the hydroponics lab" in the last episode.

I noticed the hydroponic lab comment too, haven't made it through the episodes to see it yet though.
