but cfl a hotter , more expensive , and would need a lot of cfl's ? how many watt's of cfl's would i need for one plant?
p.s: i am not looking to yield pounds and pounds , i am actually gonna top them at about 2 and a half high , or lower so so dont think im gonna need 100watt per plant

Tube only cover the very tops of the plant, their light spread is total crap and don't penatrate the canopy.
cfl's can be placed around the plant with reflectors and give good light spread.

dont hate on tubes, it's allot easier to setup then dozens of cfl.
i think a mix of both works well.
i have 2 t5 2bulb fixtures (4 32w plant&aquarium) and a 15w 13in. coolwhite on the roof
and a 2bulb fixture with 2 40w plant&aquarium bulbs an another 15w 13in. coolwhite mounted on the wall
about 1 1/2ft below my rooftop lightes. I turn my plants once a day 1/3 rotation,they grow really fast.
the buds grown here are good but not as tight as a hps, and less yeild per plant.
I think it's better to get a 250w hps or more if your working with more then just afew feet.

In order to grow pounds and pounds..... Maybe you want to go to HPS. Tubes work for clones and all, but 2 1/2 foot tall plants... $00 watt light minimum. And still growning pounds and pounds is not likely.

Everyone always has their own ideas and YES, there is a lot of lights options but it is all according to how much you want to grow.....
I just finished some autos under floros....did good and made some good nugs....then again, I am growing only for myself...
I am still using floros for a new grow although I have added some cfl over time as money permitted....... so do your thang as you wish and just keep reading up on little things that will make a difference to your plants....

depends on how big you want them, look for what suits your needs,or a journal with what you would want.

id say very effective in my case, i have 3 bagseed 5weeks old, 10-15inch tall
bushy as hell, prettymuch grown for the purpose of practice mothers,
before i spend alot on a specific strain. (soil)

Yah i ordered 20 NothernLights seeds but not planning on growing all in one shot maybe 3 max 4 at a time so i was thinking 1X42W(6400k) per plant for seedling and veg (not too long veg) and then 2X42W(2700K) for flowering
P.S planing on topping them

if your plan on growing acouple for smoke, the florecent tubes will work. Id suggest either wall mounting a fixture or cfl's for sidelight.
my florecents will eventually be just for 1 mother to produce 2 good clones every 8-10 weeks(ill take 8-10,cull out all but the best 2)
& 2 or 3 auto's to last between those 2 clones under my 400w light (after 2 weeks of veg).
this is my plan to supply my gf and I with next to free tree's
if your growing for profit you need space, hps lightes and a bit of experience

good choice, i want some northernlights.your probably best only doing 2, veggin an extra week or 2
your talking cfl?
topping is worth it, i think a bunch of even sized buds is better than 1 huge one and popcorn.

Will i be able to use the same lights in 12/12 for flowering ?
and what color temperatures are cool white and warm white , 6400k and 2700k if im not mistaking ?

the 1 fixture with 2 40w (1cool/1warm) will be enough to flower but id suggest buying 2 fixtues(still keep 2 diff bulbs in each fixture to make an even canopy of the different lightes mixing)you could start with 1 and add another after the first month or so.
the other option is acouple cfl's, with florecents you need the light to be within 2-4 inches,(aslong as they dont burn,it can be touching->mine touch all the time but the fan has them constantly moving so no heat builds up and no harm sofar)
point is the more floro's and the closer the better
(the coolwhites are blue spectrum, and the warmwhites are red spectrum)
