Home Depot HPS bulbs

I was at Home Depot buying supplies for my grow room and came across 400 watt HPS bulbs for $21.99. My local hydro store has 400 watt bulbs for around $80. Has anyone used both? Can you tell a pretty big difference in yield?

Not sure but I think the 400 watt hps bulbs at home depot are for outdoor lighting not grow lighting.

if there is a difference it is miniscule. I'm using outdoor hps security lights for my grow, it's working great

What's the difference? It's the same wattage and if it's an HPS im guessing the content's inside it is the same...

Differnt color spectrums. Not much of a big deal. Htg supply has 400w for like 35$ 50,000 lumen. Id compare the two specs. If all else, its a good backup, if one ever blows for some reason.

I think that it's all a big marketing trick from the hydro/ grow stores.. I m using a 250watt hps sold for outdoor lighting , bought for 10$ from a local shop and it's working like a charm..

I bought my lights for years at Lowes, cheap & did work very well. Will continue to do so. It's not where you get it, it's what you use.

i use the ones from depot... the only difference is the ones from the depot are 50,000 lumens 400 w hps and the grow shops are like 55,000 with added blue spectrum...

well im not sure if its the proper formula for exchange but if you convert that farenheit to kelvin its only 1421.9 kelvin but im pretty sure that is not equivelant to the actual color temp. I imagine they have a typo there and its supposed to be 2100 kelvin because thats pretty close to horti HPS bulb temps. Like others said at least grab one as a cheap back up in case a light blows or burns out.

For the record I have 1000w Hortilux bulbs but have often wondered what the difference is. I'm no indoor pro so I'm just doing what I see my buddies doing.

I do have a 250 piece of shit MH hood and a GE bulb. My buddy borrowed to do a little gangster grow in his closet. It fucking rocked! He bought the bulb at HD.

Youtube, Steve Kubby Marijuana grow bulb. He kinda details the difference in bulbs. I still say HD is a good deal. I use a 55,000 blue. But might grab one for a backup... Good luck either way!
