peace bro and good luck.
Thanks crazytrain i really appreciate it. and yah i checked out your grow with your lowryder's, lol it took me a little over half an hour to read and look at but it was really cool seeing your progress in your grow. Congrats they came out really great man.

But yah im at a month though with this 1 Auto Ak and its tiny. It was my first grow but experience is the only way to actually learn everything i guess.

So did you cut off the tops to your lowryders or anything?

okay so im going to visit my parents for christmas and will not be here for at least 2 weeks so i came up with a way to water my 1 Auto and keep my reservoir tank water levels up

1) okay so the first thing i did was put my PC planter in my closet so it would reduce the noise and ppl would stop asking why there was light coming out of it.

2) i bought 1/4 black tubing, a 6.5 qt bucket, a float valve, a submersible pump, aquarium silicon, and black covers (so it reflects more light and hopefully kills the algae on my cubes)

okay so i drilled holes, and installed the float valve and metal pieces. I will have my new 6.5 qt bucket (the one without the float on the bottom left hand corner of 2nd picture) on top of my PC planter of up high on a closet shelf so i can use gravity to put water into my primary tank with the float into my PC planter system.

3rd and 4th picture kind of show the concept i am trying to use, but its pretty much that when the float value starts to drop in the tub in my Planter, gravity will push water (with probably a half strength nutrients compared to what i have in there already) into my tub where my plants are and the water will never be below my roots because when the float comes back up it will shut of the water supply.

the tub i have now is so small that it will be less than half full in a week of no maintenance because of evaporation and stuff so at least ill have clean water coming from another tup and gradually raising the nutrient solution with it as well.

The submersible pump will be in the 2nd tank moving the water around so if i decide to put nutrients it will be keeping those moving.

P.S. i will post pictures of the new additions when i put it all together.

I meant like when ppl cut the tops of the plants so two tops come out instead. and check out what i did so if you go out of town again you can maybe use my idea instead of having the hassle of a friend take care of it for you

Hey marcoss
You've made some neat changes to your planter. I'm loving the autofeeder, very inventive. Hope it works out.
From memory, the auto strains switch to flowering a bit too quick to make the best use of topping. When they are topped the new branches drop back to 3 fingered leaves and they need time to get back to 7's before they flower or the buds will be very small. As auto strains switch to flowering within 3 weeks they don't always have time to do this.
For extra bulk I found it better to bend the tops down & let some of the sidebranches come through because they quickly get up to 7 fingered leaves and will then produce worthwhile buds.

Just looking at your early pics it seems that the rooting plug might be in direct contact with the res and that's not how it should be. From memory the rooting plug should be sitting on a layer of the clay balls just above the water level so the upper parts of the root get plenty of oxygen. Everything is looking good now though so prolly no need to change anything this time round.

Thanks v12xjs for the useful information. i will be posting more pictures for everyone to see my progress in a couple days

Okay so i switched one of my CFL's to a warmer light and changed my nutrient solution to bloom (550ppm)

I think she is still in veg but i think she will be showing her sex any day now. She is doing really well and is growing very fast.

Hey man i was wondering if you could help me out. i switched my bloom nutrients from 500ppm to 900 ppm back to 700ppm. I plant started to flower 3 days ago and its been having some little brown spots on it. any suggestions?

the spots have been on my plant for a week now but were only on the bottom leaves. now its working its way up to the top.

- on the 3rd picture you can see a spot on the right hand side in the middle. its very small but they all like that on my leaves

hey dude,

looks like the classic nute burn. just use fresh water with no nutes for a few days and it should clear up, next feeding don't use fell strength nutes maybe like half strength so it can get used to them again. how old is she now?

peace

Looks healthy to me, I would stay at the original 900 ppm you were running. Don't be too concerned about those two little spots . . . .

Maybe mold? I'd take them outta the rockwall cubes and put them in hydroton. But wait for others to respond first cause i could be wrong.

you need to up your nutrient strength again . . . not sure why you dropped it in the first place!? 300 ppm is WAY too low for a plant of that size :peace:

i ended up going to my local hydroponics store last night and bought some cal-mag nutrient solution because after doing some research i figured that i probably needed more cal or mag added to my reservoir

so i added more bloom to about 700ppm
and 5ml of cal-mag to my 1 gallon res which brought it up to about 1020ppm
(ill let you guys know how it is doing a couple days with PICS)

The white stuff on the rooter is prolly salt rather than mold. In your earlier pics that root cube was soaked with nute mix but now its dry, so it looks like maybe the nutes have formed into salts as they dried out. It shouldn't cause any problems.

thanks yah that is what i thought it was to after i talked to guys at the hydroponics store.

i cut off two leaves that weren't doing so good on the bottom but do you think i should cut off the bottom leaves soon or the ones that are wilted and spotted at the bottom? or should i wait? or just not do it at all...thanks

leaves generate the energy the plant needs to grow and flower, and plants in a microgrow don't grow many leaves so I'd be inclined to leave them on. Removing them won't do any harm though.

sweet thanks ill just leave the leaves on then. So with the leaves with spots on them, i should just leave them alone?

and do you think i should train it? maybe wait a while before i train it? or should i just not do it at all since its in such a small space
