$500 to quit for a year

My mother bet me $500 That I couldn't abstain from consuming Marijuana for a whole year; saying that I'm so addicted now that it is impossible to go that long without it.

To go without weed for an entire year? Well, far be it from me to turn down such an easy challenge for a good lump of cash as well as a bit of dignity.

The kicker to the story is though my moms a Sherifs Officer and if I don't make it then she will have a funny story to tell her asshole co-workers and we can't be having any of that.

Would you do the same under these circumstances?

No way!

First, if you quit it should be for your own reasons, not pocket change.

Second, let's break this down. $500 dollars for a year without cannabis.

500 divided by 364.25.

That's $1.37 a day.

My advice, tell her to up it to $50,000 and you'll think about it.

Or, if you do decide to go through with it (for your own reasons), she has to smoke up a quarter bag with you at the end of the year.

Agreed...I pay my Doc $200 a year and I have to see a normal Dr for a script for about $70...I am pretty sure my daughter would gladly pay that much to not have dad be an ass

lol i'd laugh them off till i was offered a decent amount of money $500 is hardly anything. when there is an offer big enough on the table i'd spend first couple of months saving up money i would have spent on weed get a huge set of lights + set up and start growing one of the 20+ week sativa's. i'd spend a few months training it into a beastie the switch to flower with plenty of time to slow dry and long cure the buds rdy for the day i win my bet

i say go for it, and i don't think you would be selling yourself out by taking the bet at all... i would say thought that if you go for the bet, you damn well better win it, or you will never live it down, and your mom's opinion of potheads will never change, which would really be a waste of time..
i say tell her that you would do it for no money, just to prove to her that mj is not at all addictve and to prove that you just did it to show her that fact and to make sure that you didn't just do it for the money..
not smoking is not that hard if you put your mind to it and make up your mind about not wanting to smoke... i know you can do it, as i and i am sure many others have also done it with no problems..

Thanks for all of your comments guys. I really appreciate all of your opinions. For the record my mother is an evil woman and sometimes likes to sarcastically manipulate you but she is not a dishonest individual.

Right now I'm working on a different angle with the deal. If I play my cards right I might be able to change the deal in such a way that I would wind up with a new car or something.
