Ok , so i might not be THAT lucky lol , but i was searching through my basement today , and guess what i come across?..... I Found TWO 400W HIDs , and This whole time , ive been using CFLs , man it must be my lucky day , my father let me have them and he said he only used them once , all they need are bulbs that he might actually still have a couple new ones in a box somewhere ( he use to grow for legal perposes) but he got an in accedent a while back that left him un-able to do much , so , my question is , should i stick with the CFLs or should i switch to the 400W HIDs i have?

The HPS lights will put out more heat due to putting out more wattage. If you have the height and ventilation required to cool them than absolutely use them instead of the CFLs

well i deffinitly have the high and space , i have a room in the basement that is completely white , it was re-painted , 2 windows and its not being used for anything , so i will probably set that room up and use it , i have flood tables and hydro setups but i have no idea how to use them , im just a soil grower

He said HID not HPS

but he was basically spot on, HID use more power, especially when they ignite, but that only last a second. I`d say go for the better light. If the HID gives out more lumens and the extra power consumption isn`t exaggerated and if you can cool them or the room, then sure, better light means better bud ;)

That's fuckin' tight dude. I'm just using some house-hold lightbulbs. They're working so far but they'll prolly die soon knowing my luck.

HPS is a form of HID light
You can't buy a HID bulb, HID stands for High Intensity Discharge lighting, such as HPS or MH

If you are using incandescent lightbulbs for your grow. It has nothing to do with luck. You need to improve your knowledge base and I'm sure you will up your "luck". Read up on cfls if you dont got the space for HID lights.

And like the image below. incandescent = dead/lousy plants

Yeeaaa dude deff go with the hid's!! You'll see a huge difference in foilage and overall "effective light surface area." Just make sure keep your plants at least a foot underneath or they will get smoked way before you ever intended.
