It's coming..... and some of it is coming right now ... through the EPA. There are many ways to tax. Cracker pays attention tho....then again, I have a lot riding on it all.

you are loopier than a box of fruit loops my friend.
name one tax enacted due to climate change.
name ONE! not even asking you for a list, if you can give me ONE new tax created (under CURRENT administration) in the name of climate change. i will leave RIU forever.

to further clarify, not your bullshit conspiracy theory, but a tax, openly stated by Obama himself, has been created to curb climate change.

Will you folks fighting cap and trade explain how you think it's going to affect you negatively? Lets not even consider that it's part of a worldwide effort that may benefit us all and reduce all manners of disease and death in certain parts of the world due to pollution and that it might produce cleaner air in shorter order than any other option anyone else could come up with.

Cracker, what kind of pollution producing plant do you run where it's going to directly affect your wallet? And how much polluted crap should we as a society accept from you so you can continue without making any improvements?

It's going to negatively affect the entire output of the nation.

There happens to be NO DATA that is conclusive that carbon affects global temps. NONE....

Wanna clean up air around factories? Plant trees, they seem to love carbon ... oh wait the new EPA poison is the building block of the planet ... oops.

Look into water vapor. There's the main culprit when it comes to greenhouse gases. This powerful change agent is left OUT of the global warming models ... can you guess why?

Of course, greenhouse gases take a BIG back seat to the sun and ocean currents. Again, no one talks about that much. Can you guess why?

Obama's words verbatim: "Under my system of cap and trade, electricity costs would necessarily skyrocket."

He admits freely that cap and trade would be expensive as hell. If the powers that be were really worried about greenhouse gas and climate change they would be trying to do something other than taxing the shit out of us all. Why not start building more nuclear power plants? Why not outlaw the internal combustion engine and give everyone electric cars? It's all bullshit my friend and you, like many others, have bought it hook, line, and sinker. :weed:

dude do you know what the cap and trade is?

it will make gas prices go through the roof, home heating prices go through the roof, electricity costs go through the roof,

trust me is going to cost you an assload more to grow your buds using electricity

this inturn will increase the price of all manufactured goods and your groceries

this will stifle an already teetering economy and raise unemplyment through the roof

less employed will lead to less sales, less sales will lead to more unemplyment.

this is not a game we are playing here we all have lives and families to provide for

they wanna do all this on a basis of a lie that has just been outed and so now they are trying to rush it through before the lie and deception is completely revealed to the light of day

its no coincidence that they tried to ram throught the cap an trade bill last summer, the leaked emails were forwarded to a scientist in may before it was sent to the news media, the admin and congress has known about this since then possibly

its all based on a lie and they will fuck us all, earth has been cooling for the past 15 years since 1998!!!!!!!!!

Copenhagen climate summit in disarray after 'Danish text' leak

Developing countries react furiously to leaked draft agreement that would hand more power to rich nations, sideline the UN's negotiating role and abandon the Kyoto protocol

The UN Copenhagen climate talks are in disarray today after developing countries reacted furiously to leaked documents that show world leaders will next week be asked to sign an agreement that hands more power to rich countries and sidelines the UN's role in all future climate change negotiations.

The document also sets unequal limits on per capita carbon emissions for developed and developing countries in 2050; meaning that people in rich countries would be permitted to emit nearly twice as much under the proposals.

The so-called Danish text, a secret draft agreement worked on by a group of individuals known as "the circle of commitment" – but understood to include the UK, US and Denmark – has only been shown to a handful of countries since it was finalised this week.

The agreement, leaked to the Guardian, is a departure from the Kyoto protocol's principle that rich nations, which have emitted the bulk of the CO2, should take on firm and binding commitments to reduce greenhouse gases, while poorer nations were not compelled to act. The draft hands effective control of climate change finance to the World Bank; would abandon the Kyoto protocol – the only legally binding treaty that the world has on emissions reductions; and would make any money to help poor countries adapt to climate change dependent on them taking a range of actions.

The document was described last night by one senior diplomat as "a very dangerous document for developing countries. It is a fundamental reworking of the UN balance of obligations. It is to be superimposed without discussion on the talks".

A confidential analysis of the text by developing countries also seen by the Guardian shows deep unease over details of the text. In particular, it is understood to:

• Force developing countries to agree to specific emission cuts and measures that were not part of the original UN agreement;
• Divide poor countries further by creating a new category of developing countries called "the most vulnerable";
• Weaken the UN's role in handling climate finance;
• Not allow poor countries to emit more than 1.44 tonnes of carbon per person by 2050, while allowing rich countries to emit 2.67 tonnes.

Developing countries that have seen the text are understood to be furious that it is being promoted by rich countries without their knowledge and without discussion in the negotiations.

"It is being done in secret. Clearly the intention is to get [Barack] Obama and the leaders of other rich countries to muscle it through when they arrive next week. It effectively is the end of the UN process," said one diplomat, who asked to remain nameless.

The text was intended by Denmark and rich countries to be a working framework, which would be adapted by countries over the next week. It is particularly inflammatory because it sidelines the UN negotiating process and suggests that rich countries are desperate for world leaders to have a text to work from when they arrive next week.

Few numbers or figures are included in the text because these would be filled in later by world leaders. However, it seeks to hold temperature rises to 2C and mentions the sum of $10bn a year to help poor countries adapt to climate change from 2012-15.

I am a retired firefighter and we were all trained hazmat technicians as well. We were taught that CO2 wasn't toxic. It's bad effects on humans come from it's ability to displace oxygen. You basically suffocate due to lack of oxygen in the presence of high amounts of CO2. Now the EPA wants to classify it as a toxic gas. It's only toxic in extremely high concentrations and you would be dead due to lack of Oxygen long before the toxic effects would harm you. Crazy huh?:?

Democrat Webb warns Obama on taking action in Copenhagen

By Kerry Picket on Dec. 2, 2009 into Water Cooler
**UPDATE December 7, 2009
When asked about the recent Environment Protection Agency's endangerment finding of CO2, Senator Webb told the Washington Times and others today on Capitol Hill, "I think we need to go back and look at the Supreme Court decision in which the EPA asserts that it has that authority, because it is a derived power based on legislation, and it is a limited power. I don't think the administration can agree to anything, for instance, in Copenhagen on an endagerment finding that was based on one piece legislation in a Supreme Court decision."
----------------------------------
December 2, 2009
Looks like a fellow Democrat has concern with the president's handling of the the cap and trade issue upon Mr. Obama's trip to Copenhagen. Senator Jim Webb (D - Va.) wrote to the administration last week warning President Obama that the White House does not have unilateral power to commit the United States to any standards agreed upon at the upcoming climate change conference in Denmark.:
Dear Mr. President:
I would like to express my concern regarding reports that the Administration may believe it has the unilateral power to commit the government of the United States to certain standards that may be agreed upon at the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The phrase “politically binding” has been used.
Although details have not been made available, recent statements by Special Envoy on Climate Change Todd Stern indicate that negotiators may be intending to commit the United States to a nationwide emission reduction program. As you well know from your time in the Senate, only specific legislation agreed upon in the Congress, or a treaty ratified by the Senate, could actually create such a commitment on behalf of our country.
I would very much appreciate having this matter clarified in advance of the Copenhagen meetings.
Sincerely,
Jim Webb
United States Senator
Senator Webb's office told the Washington Times Water Cooler the president has not replied back in writing, and the decision to write the president a letter on this issue comes from Mr. Webb's concern about issues of constitutional checks and balances.

*UPDATE on Spokeswoman quote
A spokeswoman for Mr. Webb said, "If we're going to make binding commitments, the Senate needs to be an obligatory player in that process." The spokeswoman also noted Mr. Webb's concern with the vague commitment from China and India on the issue of cap and trade.

From a consitutuent, thanks Sen Webb. Encourage whistleblowers to tell the truth. Spread the word to the IPCC, Penn State, UEA, NASA, NOAA, DOE, and all over. Anyone who shares inside information about the AGW scammers is eligible for huge rewards. Al Gore and his minions jet around the world to exotic locales, and write poetry. "Let them eat cake" attitudes are eerily similar to previous elites. The communist elites enjoyed the same privileges and mouthed the same type of platitudes. Where are they now? A quickly growing Yahoo Group (CO2 is Plant Food), and a petition (NOC-NOW) that simply spells out a Declaration of Climate Independence, and calls for immediate halt to all political and economic actions based on the fraudulent IPCC "science" and policy. Post the call for whistleblowers in all forums where AGW insiders are present. We will be heard. The goal of Copenhagen is to mandate a massive wealth transfer from the United States to pay reparations for "climate debt" to Third World countries and create a new "world government" to enforce the treaty's provisions. This is laid out explicitly in the UNFCCC (Framework Convention on Climate Change) dtd 15 September 2009. Below are just a few snippets from that document: UNFCCC Treaty Verbiage [Developed country Parties [,in order to pay their adaptation debt to the developing country Parties][shall] [should] provide [finance, technology transfer and capacity-building to] support [for] adaptationactions [in developing countries, in accordance with the provisions of the Convention.] [at local, subnational and national levels as well as for stand-alone projects/actions] Such actions may include:] Developed country Parties shall provide financial resources and transfer technology to developing country Parties to make full and effective repayment of climate debt, including adaptation debt, taking responsibility for their historical cumulative emissions and current high per capita emissions. Developing country Parties will, in pursuing economic development and poverty eradication, take proactive measures to adapt to and mitigate climate change. An assessed contribution from developed country Parties based on the principles of equity, common but differentiated responsibilities, respective capabilities, GDP, GDP per capita, the polluter pays principle historical responsibility of Annex I Parties, historical climate debt, including adaptation debt, amounting to [[0.5–1][0.8][2] per cent of gross national product] at least [0.5–1 per cent of GDP]]. AP Story on 11/29: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091129/ap_on_bi_ge/climate_follow_the_money_3 Breitbart Story on 11/29: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9C9B3200&show_article=1 "Rich countries must put at least $10 billion a year on the table to kick-start immediate action up to 2012," the U.N. climate chief, Yvo de Boer, told reporters last week in a preview of the two-week conference opening next Monday in Copenhagen."

It's interesting to see the accord states that "the polluter pays principle historical responsibility of Annex I Parties, historical climate debt". Does this mean that China will be responsible for over 3500 years of pollution and Europe for at least the last 3000 (including the Industrial Revolution)? If that is the case, than the United States should at least pay for our last 200+ years.

Why does the Washington Times or any other opinion site for that matter have a "Mark as Offensive" option? Only the reader is responsible for his/her inability to read anything without taking personal offense. If offense is taken by someone else's remarks, I suggest the reader quickly see a licensed professional counselor for a status exam. Senator Webb, The EPA now has the power to regulate CO2 as a pollutant thanks to the Bush administration and the Supreme Court. Don't think for a second that the Obama administration doesn't understand the ramifications of that fact before they come to the podium in Copenhagen. They know that there will be little political cover for democrats if they support Cap and Trade legislation. It matters little to Great Leader.

NoMarxist

Who do these people think they are. This decision will be made by George Soros and the Apollo Group. They are the authority behind the Cap & Rape bill and they decide who sits in those Senate seats occupied by Democrats. Obama is not smart enough to single-handedly destroy America.. He has lots of help and they all belong to the Progressive movement.

It's funny isn't it? CO2 is as essential for life on this planet as oxygen and water. Without it life as we know it would not be possible. Even human beings rely on CO2 in a pretty direct way. Breathing is regulated by the amount of CO2 not the amount of O2. It's one of the reasons you shouldn't give 100% O2 to someone with COPD. They will simply stop breathing because there is no CO2 in the pure Oxygen. :weed:
