I have a hand scale and a digi. Digital is def the best way to go for larger amounts. The hand scale is way too generous.
are hand scales any good or go with digital

couldnt agree with you more when hooking people up the baggie it self weights 1 gram and when i load up the baggie and weight it...it comes out to be 5grams so i then just minus out that one and hook em up with 4grams but friends are friends so it dont mind....plus they were their when needed help during growin process ....

get a triple beam i highly recomend them also. never used a digi but the triple beams seem to work very well

I design digital scales. Those hand scales only have a mark for every gram, not every tenth of a gram (0.1g), so anything between whole grams is just guesswork.
It is true that triple beams and other mechanical scales are very reliable over time, because as long as they can balance, they are accurate. With digital scales, its highly recommended to keep a calibration weight so you can adjust the calibration whenever it slips out. Digital scales offer far higher resolution than mechanical scales.
With all precision instruments, there is a margin of error. Usually this is +/- 2 divisions of the scale. So if you are using a 0.1g digital scale, you can trust its readings within 0.2 grams give or take. If this isn't acceptable, you must choose a 0.01g digital scale. That way the readings are only off give or take 0.02 grams.
