Rather than focus on a particular issue, I try to get back to my core philosophy when determining my thoughts on any issue. Since I don't believe one person or a group of persons should run another peaceful persons life by others account I am sometimes "liberal", sometimes extremely conservative. Which is not an accurate portrayal at all. The reality is my philosophy is libertarian based and consistent. Sometimes Democrats or Republicans will hold a libertarian view point, but by and large both are inconsistent and follow "issues" rather than a core philosophy.
Sometimes Democrats are libertarian, regarding marijuana legalization many Democrats take a libertarian stance. Yet they fail to recognize if logic says you should own your own body, it also says you should own your own wallet. When they advocate taxing others using force, they are being inconsistent. A similar contradiction exists among conservatives. They are right there with me on the small government thing (I'm for a very very very small government lol)
yet when it comes to somebody owning their body they want a big government to use force against people who may have different views.
For instance I think taxation is extortion, well I know that by literal definition it is actually. I also think people should be free to grow or ingest anything they like. I believe most wars are politically driven and are not based in the causes the perpretators use to gain support for their wars, in other words they are about money and control.
I oppose national healthcare, it involves forcing others to comply and authorizes more legal extortion and somebody else deciding who owns your decisions.
I oppose drug laws, I do not advocate anybody use drugs, I advocate people decide for themselves.
I am FOR liberty and freedom. I am for protection of individual rights. In order to ensure mine, I must respect others right to theirs. My philosophy is consistent. I cannot say the same for either Democrats or Republicans.
