Well, that's not about Texas music, songwriting, story telling. You're thinking Nashville where airheads play around an airhead theme for 4 minutes - BORING. True Texas music, like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark, Walt Wilkins, Mike Blakely, etc. has alot of soul and is always thought provoking, amusing or funny. A new guy on the set really needs to be mentioned since I'm talking about songwriters and their soulful tunes - John Arthur Martinez, he is rich in soul and is has been doing tours including Europe! But lately I had a nice vomit session to whoever it was that says "Cold beer on a friday night, a pair of jeans that fit just right..."
Guy Clark is another very rich, older man in thought and heart. He is a great songwriter and once said that he and his family used to sit around the living room after dinner and take turns reciting poetry and prose. That was before there was TV, and disjointed families of course. It's sad that so many families are so dysfunctional now.
