Yeah it is a DWC system, the rez can hold 1 gallon max
The stem is pretty thick, those pics were a while ago though. the stem has gotten much thicker since

Very nice, I was thinking about doing a DWC setup. I have enough containers laying around to build a bunch. Then I decided against it, since I usually buy good organic potting mix and just feed them once during vegging and once during flowering. For veg I use fish emulsion and I am still trying to figure out what to use for flowering. I didn't wanna complicate things with my new room. I actually made a thread about it here. I still haven't solved that problem yet :/. I am probably gonna head out to Depot tonight and grab some supplies, I gotta stop slacking off with it LOL

first picture same as as his 20 days old but topped. 2nd picture is the same plants today at 34 days. im sure the tubes are nice but not for full veg without some extra lighting. i thought people just use them to start seeds/clones for a couple weeks till they can handle more light. maybe im just to stoned tired and rambling lol

Yikes man you need to feed those plants a lot more
feeding a plant twice during its life is going to give you bad results with a small amount of not very potent buds
I would suggest you look into feeding your plants more this time, you will have much much better results
i'm going to check out that link now

You are thinking of t-8 or t-12 they are not good for long term vegging
t-5 is much brighter and will give great results throughout veg
People use them to flower with as well
I am getting the same amount of bushy growth as you at that age using 228 LESS watts

Every time I feed them more it just seems to mess them up. The medium I use is very rich and black, so I figured they didn't need it. I thought my plants look pretty healthy. I just took a lot of clones off them so they look a bit sparse, but still pretty good. The smalles one was stunted to begin with. My cousin gave me these and he's so sloppy I am surprised the other 2 were healthy.

They look healthy but if you fed them more you would be getting much faster growth. The problem when you were feeding them was more than likely you not pHing the mix before giving it to the plants.

Yeah, I gotta admit I would just give them a capful of fish emulsion in a gallon jug of water then follow up with just water for the next few waterings, guess I gotta make the mix weaker then.

ya their good for flowering since soft white the 42w bulbs are what everyone suggests. but consider if you want to deal with more bulbs/light and spend less money getting 26w bulbs. you should be able to find 6 packs for the same price or a few bucks more then 1 42w and splitters are only like 1 or 2$ if your low on sockets

ok i just read you said veg box again lol. you would have to get these ones if you can find them in singles. i know i got my 26w daylights in 2 packs for 7$ their more expensive then the soft whites everywhere i seen.

Yeah I was looking at those, but like you said they only got the 12 pack for like 100 bucks.

Lowes only has these and these that are over 40W, but very sparse info on them.

they might have them in singles i dont see why they would only sell 12 packs of the daylights and single of soft whites. best thing you can do is personally read the whole package and verify yourself what spectrum they are so just take a trip up there and see hwat they have in daylights. anything 26w and up would be fine depending how much you wanna spend and how many bulbs you wanna deal with. also if you look at the reviews that 68w bulb is cool white which is like 4000k or something

Good news; my budget just doubled to $100, so I can get something better. So what is the optimal spectrum I wanna get for vegging? I am not sure about the whole k rating etc. Gotta do some more reading up on that when I get some time.

you want daylights 6500k they look white or blue instead of orange. you could just buy that 12 pack of 42w daylight bulbs then youll have replacements and backups for a long time :P

Yeah I might just do that. I could install 6 of them using 3 sockets and 3 double-headed screw-in sockets. 6x42W should be plenty for my area.

there ya go and youll have a whole 2nd set of backups lol. i forget how long they say you should replace them after i wanna say 3 months or something is when they said they start losing intensity. even still using them in your house and whatever after replacing youll get a good year or 2 out of them prolly lol
