Since I'm here anyway picking up the trash, I'll chime in for the OP. I believe ILOU said it correctly, it looks like damping off, which is a fungus, and that will cause the stem to be skinny at the soil level.

Your soil is too wet, and you are feeding way too much.

To the other posters: The plant is 2 weeks old, in soil, and being fed too! You guys go on and on about deficiencies and pH problems. In 2 weeks?

It's simple growing in soil, why make it difficult?

Well as you can see Noob....The Mod already confirmed what a fine member has suggested...Damping Off. Calm down, hit the bowl....Be Cool.

Why not one of you choose the sensible option and just ignore the other :p. Anyway, this thread has been quite useful - I think I can attribute the damping off to one of my plants now. It seems not entirely uncontrollable.
