in most hydro stores ive been to they actually sell organic ferts specifically for budding

id recommend seasol on top of the charlie carp because seaweed has a good phosphorus level

you could be right. You don't want high Nitrogen while budding.

Only thing I know about Seasol is that it's seaweed based, dunno what they add.

Seaweed by itself though is basically 0-0-1

high in potassium not phosphorus... my bad

..In other news it has been several pages since anybody had any problems with their plants, so I take it this is a good sign?
Actually I got a bug problem, In the past when I started growing, I had 1 plant which I let get infested with these tiny black flies, back then in all my wisdom I belived the problem would fix it self, anyways as the problem got out of control and started to spread, I thought maybe I should do something. Pretty much these flies would fly up into the pots through the holes underneath the pot and they would laid hundreds of babies, which would flood out every time I would water. I originally tried to fix the problem with a spray recommended to me by my hydro store, which didnt work. I fixed the problem with a 10-20 minute flush with running tap water. I pretty much hand killed the rest of the flies on the top of the soil.

I havent seen 1 of the black flies in weeks until last night. I then started to pick up my flowering plants to look inside the square pots they sit in, only to find 100s of white lava floating in the water run off in the bottoms of 1/2 my flowering pots.

I would rather not have to flush so many plants I was wondering if there was another way to kill them/prevent future attacks?

How does everyone do it?
Do you convert you flower room to a drying room for a week or so, using the extraction fans and filters?
How do you guys do it for lets just say 1lb

i have been told that some carbon filters are good for masking the smell. add them to your extraction fan/fans.

Perhaps a garage or roofspace?
I am using a stack of pizza boxes atm, they seem to work a treat with a normal fan blowing at them from the side.
I am wondering if there is any downside to using them, perhaps the cardboard drawing too much moisture or something? Would be keen to hear opinions.

How much would you be comfortable drying like that?
If someone walks past your place would they smell it? or a next door nieghbour?

If it's in a sealed room you really should be fine for just a pound, it only takes 2-4 days to dry after which you can cure
it in sealed jars which will contain the smell. Of you have really close neighbours or nosy peeps round your street then I'd invest in a carbon scrubber, but if you survived flowering without one I wouldn't stress.

Roofspaces hold excess moisture n u r likely to get Bud Rot. A built in wardrobe with an extraction fan works a treat. Avoid blowing air directly on the buds as this will over-dry the outside of them and u will not get consistency. Also Pizza Boxes will hold excess moisture n make ur Buds taste funny..

If u got a small room with a cupboard or small wardrobe, the built in ceiling fan should create more than enough airflow but at the same time not dry em out too quick.

Just keep the door ajar, open a windw n light sum flippin incense.

Wat have u there is Fungus Gnats, hard lil Buggas to kill as they breed so quick.. :finger:
Wat u did is 1 way to rid them as well as placing an inch or so of sand on top of ur pots. Putting up sticky traps also works, but only as a control measure.. A good preventitive measure is to avoid watering before ur dark period. They breed in the top inch or so of the soil mainly where it is damp & dark, (hence watering b4 the dark period helps optimise breeding conditions 4 them).
