I've always started out at that low of dosage for Big Bloom...I like to give them as little as they need, and I will increase the dosage until I get to full strength. I'm going to start Grow Big around day 21 at 1/4 strength, then increase it as they get bigger. Some people like to over-fertilize...I under-fertilize.

Are the cotyledons still green? If they are yellow than the plant is telling you that it needs more nitrogen than it is being given
I think your best bet would be to feed the grow big once the cotyledons yellow, let the plant tell you when its hungry
I know for a fact that upping the big bloom will have no ill side effects... except for maybe some faster growth haha :wink:

Cotyledons are still green...I usually wait until they start turning a bit yellow, which is usually around day 21 or so...but yea...I let them tell me when they are hungry :D

I am going to use big bloom with every watering since it's more of a soil 'conditioner'. Thanks for the input!

Day 18 since sprouting
Temps: 72.3 Day, 68 Night
Watering: Distilled and 1/4 tsp Grow Big and 1 tsp Big Bloom

Cotyledon leaves started to show faint signs of yellow, which means that they are starting to get hungry! Used 1/4 tsp Grow Big and 1 tsp Big Bloom @ 6.5 pH

B'ful plants - I'm 'scribed. You've got a nice, simple process and your plants seem to be loving it.

Curious to why you start in party cups then go to 1/2 gal? Seems like an extra step in there....

It does seem like an extra step, but the reason I did it was because I am choosing the best 3 out of each strain (3 WW and 3 KB). I plan on vegging them for about 5 - 6 weeks and I needed to up pot them so that they don't get root bound any time soon. I was going to go directly to 3 gallon pots, but then I would just waste soil, water, and nutrients. I am going to switch them in a couple of weeks once they have a solid root system, then I will choose the best 3 of each.

I am trying to keep is as simple as I can!

Day 20 since sprouting
Temps: 70 Day, 65 Night
Watering: None since last update

They have now entered rapid vegetative growth! They seem to get bigger each time I look at them.

It's looks as they liked the 1/4 tsp dosage of Grow Big (6-4-4-). I plan on watering them in the next two days w/distilled water and 2 tsp Big Bloom (.01-0.3-0.7) and will gradually increase the dosage. I feed them Big Bloom every watering since it's organic and gives them a good dose of bacteria (soil conditioner). The low dosage of Grow Big has ensured that I do not over fertilize and is keeping the ladies nice and healthy. I am going to keep the 1/4 tsp Grow Big dosage until next feeding which will be in approx 6 days. I feed them with every other watering. I also make sure that the soil is dry before I water to inhibit root growth...keeping the soil moist all the time is a big no-no.

So far I think I have selected the keepers...the last three WW's in the front row, and the last three KB's in the second row. Two of the WW's seem to have an identical phenotype so far, and the third one is a bit shorter. The KB's that we want to keep have a low profile and are very healthy. The KB on the left is going to be donated to a fellow grower.

Now what about the other WW's? I went ahead and made the decision to up pot those to 2 gallon pots and keep them on the side to experiment with different topping techniques. Better than tossing them out!

Now as for how long I am vegging...I will not go by "weeks", I am going to determine the flip once they are sexually mature. Once I start seeing alternating nodes or presex, then I will flip. This should put me at approximately 6 - 7 weeks veg.

Well, I decided to go ahead and transplant them in their final containers(3 gallon square pots). I was going to wait until next week sometime, but I said screw it and did it yesterday. I want them to have any transplant 'shock' early on, that way I do not have to worry about it later in the grow.

Transplant 101

We fill the larger pot with soil then place the smaller one inside. Next, we fill around the smaller pot with soil then remove the pot and transplant. This makes it very easy.

White Widow

Group Shot

It looks like they did not suffer any shock this morning...they were nice and perky and noticed some growth. The WW's are much larger than the KB's!

Looks great.

BTW, I'm really seeing the sense in multiple container steps. I've got some superskunks right now in 2-gal pots that are unhappy with their medium. And, I can't do a damn thing about it other than ride it out. With roots running all over that big pot, a transplant would be a huge shock. There's def a need / wisdom in having at least 2 steps in containers, maybe more.
