upgrade.....or not an upgrade.

I started with 3 65w CFL's but they were at a 2100k....this concerned me since I was trying to veg.

Just installed a 100w CFL 6500k....so should be perfect for veg.....I hope.

The light looks a lot weaker compared to my 3 65w CFLs....so I dunno. paranoid.

Just so crazy. I want them to grow damnit. realize my wattage is weak. but so is my garden. not huge by any means.

So.... for the purposes of Vegging. the 100w CFL 6500k better then the 3 65w CFL 2100k?

btw. the 100w cfl system says its 1000w output....so should be better penetration right?

It'll just be more spread out light, whats the size of the bulb?

How big we talking? Dimensions. Your wattage is low but tbh mate, just put all of them in there. That gonna add up some watts.

6500k is the best rating for vegetative growth, but some 2700k (or around) do help during vegging, and vise-versa during flowering.

Never listen to the equivalent wattage. It means jack to the plants so it means jack to us :).

Try to keep the light around 2-3" away from the plants, so they're nearly touching. If the plants are only young, say if they only have 1-2 nodes then give it a bit of extra space, say 5-6".

Hope this all helps buddy, and wish your grow all the best :)

but the most important thing im gonna say is; grab some more cfl's and shove them in there, otherwise you will be disappointed. and you dont wanna waste 3 months on something which is gonna yield 1/4 of what you expected because you didn't wanna go out and get some more bulbs :)

Size of the bulb? its pretty big.... but then again so were my 65w bulbs. I was able to fit the 65w bulbs into a bathroom vanity ficture though. had 3 in line coming out of the wall without any type of reflective or light focusing the shit. It was just sorta right about the plant.

I cant take pictures since my computer sucks.. the card reader isn't working. but this what I got.

lol. I cant put them all in there....not yet anyway. I had to splice into an old lamp just to hookup my old system. so hooking up the new system just sorta took the place of the old splice.... I can make another splice into the power line but the problem with that is I dont have any place to put the lights... They wouldn't be close enough to the plants to make a difference I dont think since I have the new system like 4 inches or so above the plants.

I didn't think it meant anything. but it made me feel slightly better about the purchase. lol. damn those slick advertisers.

plants are very young. I have two good ones. the others I thought were dead....but some of them suddenly came back to life. so now I have 2 real good ones. 2 that are doing better. and 2 more that I think are still dead. So 6 plants sorta under the light.

I know. im all about wanting to add more light. but right now I just want them to beef up a bit so I can put more light on them. just not enough room close to those cups for more light.

If you happen to look at the picture of the thing I got....I took off that silly light diffuser because I thought it would only weaken the light. should I have kept it on?

I mainly think it looks weaker because its actually a little bit more focused now. before when I walked into the room I had to wear shades otherwise i'd be blind for a bit after leaving the room. I can safely enter and leave now without the shades.

You know, plants benefit from mixed spectrums in both veg, and flower - there's no reason you can't use both, and get even more benefit out of your lights.
