Got laid off yesterday...what now?

Got laid off yesterday afternoon. It's funny how they indicate this AFTER you've done a full days worth of work. I've contemplated leaving this place thousands of times, and stayed because the money was pretty good. Now I'm completely clueless as to what I'm going to do. My wife says it's a "Blessing in disguise", and I tend to agree to a certain extent. This gives me a little time to think about what I really want to do with my life. I've worked behind a desk for years, and it's not really my thing. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling on some real plans. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks.

It happened to me just over a year ago. And it was one of the biggest blessings that I've had in years.

My standard of living went way up. And my stress level went way down.

Good luck, hope all goes well.

I havent worked since may. And only 2 month's total in all 2009.
I have got to spend alot more time with my girly's.
IMO try and enjoy the break.

The hardest part is sleep.
If I do not make my self work hard around the house through the day.
It can be a biatch to sleep. Been online since 3:30am

I am currently laid off myself and have to say that the first weeks was pretty hard. Old habits and all that. Things will normalize for you. Once things settle out a bit, you might find you have time to evaluate what you would like (or LOVE) to be doing with your time.

Have fun no matter what you do, Brother!

I have been out of work since June. Hopefully after the 1st things will pick up. I say enjoy a little time off figure out what you really love to do and maybe switch careers. I personally have thought about moving to a med state and just farming.
