Nutes help for a newbie please?

Hi all!
I am wanting to go Advanced Nutrients possibly for my first grow..
I was looking into doing Connoisseur A & B but I looked at their nutrient calculator at:
http://www.advancednutrients.com/nutcalc3public/
and there's a TON of shit on the connoisseur lineup, not just that, and that is already gonna be $80 just for two one liter bottles of A&B, not to mention the other THIRTEEN additives to go with it, how much will that run $350 altogether for my first grow? and that's just for the flowering nutes not even some for veg right?

Do I really need all that shit or will just A&B get me fine and even better results than most lineups?

Or is there another lineup someone else can suggest that's good for a newbie and maybe not so heavy on the budget? I'm looking to go $100 or less for my veg + flower nutes if that's possible.. I'm only doing 6 plants and don't need tons.

I seem to think most of the additives are just adding more N or P or K at certain times, are there any lineups that are split just N P K and you can add some of whatever you think they're deficient in here or there?
I like that idea better..and logging and tweaking it for a few grows..I'm the hands on type..

If I can get away with just A & B and probably be happier with any other nute lineup, I'd like to do that.. but if I can get another nute lineup someone thinks I'll be much happier with for my first grow I'd appreciate it a lot!

Thanks,
J

I would suggest for your first grow to use General Hydroponics, Flora Micro and Flora Bloom in conjunction with the Lucas Formula, especially if cost is an issue... That's all you will need for the whole grow, from veg to flowering. Simple and VERY effective. Keep your pH at 5.5 if you're hydro.

Good luck.

GH 3 part works good for me, soil or hydro. Under $100 for three gallons,
Just so you know, GH = General Hydroponics.

And he's right, you can also use the 3 part system as well, Flora Micro, Flora Gro, and Flora bloom. But like I said, if you use the Lucas Formula, you can cut out the Flora Gro portion (saving money). If you don't know what it is, google up Lucas Formula. I use it, and my plants are killer. take a look at my grow album and you'll see.. :-)

Also, General Hydroponics makes great nutrients!!!

LEGIT!
haha I knew there had to be somethin like I was looking for..
Thank you guys tons.. GH it is for my first grow..
if things end up goin good then maybe i'll worry about dumpin some hardcore cash into my nute lineup..
but for now i spent enough on the equipment haha =)

Thank you guys a lot I'll def be going GH w/ lucas formula, i've heard about it and even read the post on it but I never really understood it because I still haven't looked into nutes much yet..lighting venting and shit like that instead =P

Thank you guys a lot, GH it definitely is!

Anyone had better results with the Gro?

I'm one of those people that thinks it's all bullshit most of the additives and you can just change your ratios of some nutes to make up for not using others haha ;)
But would like to know if it's worth it to get the Gro too..

So far sounds like no and I think I'll just stick with that =) But always interested how it goes in the flowering stage..

ignore what these people have said and buy these two products:

http://www.plantitearth.com/natural-nutrients/dyna-gro-foliage-pro.aspx
http://www.plantitearth.com/natural-nutrients/dyna-gro-bloom.aspx

total cost: $12.90

everything you need, nothing you don't
WRONG! :-) heheh. Do listen to us. Just look at the pics I have posted in my album. I am using GH and the Lucas Formula, and my plants are kicking ass. (I use a couplt other "additives" but you don't need to really worry about that for now. Just get the basics down, and experiment as you learn.

If you're wondering, I use a product called Super Thrive during veg, and Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) during flower.

Like I said though, you will do fine just using GH and Lucas Formula. Keep your pH around 5.5. Never below 5.3 or above 6.0 and you will do well. pH is quite important.

Good luck dude. Sounds like you're on the right path to success.
