That's a very valid point. When is a plant a plant?
I see a plant with every seed I put in the ground. Is it a plant when it gets it's first taproot? Is it not a plant before the sprout comes out of the top of the rockwool?
I believe a plant is a plant at whatever stage of development it may be in.
Same with people. Now if my garden gets raped by "weeds", I have no problem pulling a little sprout out of the ground and tossing it away.
I don't want someone telling me I have to let the "weed" grow in my ganja garden and then transplant to another garden.
I'm liberal in the aspect of allowing the practice to continue if the need is warranted. But I disagree that children should be treated like a tumor or growth to be excised because it's inconvenient.
But damn. That's a lot of babies that could have become taxpayers to help fix our current social security issues. NO wonder they keep letting illegals in. Once they legalize them all, we'll have made up for maybe half of missing taxpayer money.

wow! oh wonderess god of all knowledge can you please tell us what the ideal world population is. that way we can start knocking off people who go over YOUR limit.
just thinking out loud here but maybe stoning is a good way to kill all the "extras" should be the way to go....sorta like the old classic "the lottery". that way we dont emit any co2 into the air when the rifles go off.

it all depends on what standard you accept on quality of life..
american standard = 1.5 billion
european = 4 billion
chinese = 7 billion
sudan = 15 billion
note that there are 7 billion alive right now...

looks like we only have to kill 5.5 billion then. being as most of the worlds problems are coming from the middle east i suggest we start there.
then we can cut off all medical supplies being sent to africa, south america, and canada...
bombing commences in 5, 4, 3....

But lets just think about it, there are almost 7 Billion people alive today, and the number increases exponentially each year, meaning the rate at which the population increases is faster this year than last year, and next year it will be faster than this year. This trend has been constant throughout human history (except when catastrophe's happen, I think the black plague might have shifted the rate of increase, but I'm not sure, WW2 same deal).
more than half - that is 3.5 Billion people - live on less than $2/day. I just read a statistic yesterday that said 17% of people living in Yemen survived on less than $1.37/day last year.
Another statistic I've heard said if every person on the planet lived like an American, we would need 14 Earths to sustain it with the current population. So ginja's post is pretty relevant;
...and looks like a pretty decent assessment to me. It all depends on how you live. The more people there are, the less quality of life for those that are here, as there will be more competition for resources. Seems like common sense to me.
But it definitely doesn't have to be this way, and I'm not advocating limiting kids for couples or any of that. I'm advocating creating enormous food producing stations all over the country, then later all over the world. Let science advance and take the next step into mass agricultural production to feed the worlds population. I've got the plans and we've already got the means to accomplish that goal.
