it would not solve the problem of the OS locking up due to having to refresh a large library, even if it's an e-sata drive, it cannot in any way be faster and more responsive.

Yes macs do suck but they are more stable then pc's.
Ive tried alot of different macs the only one I really liked was the mac book air because how cool it looked thats it.As for right click they do have it but you have to hold down control then click so its not really right clicking.
imo macs suck get a pc and Apple is a piece of shit greedy company just like microsoft but microsoft is still better because they are alot cheaper and just as good if not better.I've hated apple ever since the bad experience I had with there bullshit greedy i tunes.

a laptop today will most certainly NOT last you 5 years before you feel the need for an upgrade imo. unless you plan on using nothing but todays programs for the next 5 years?

Really, 4,300? I was actually looking in to getting an mx17 before i settled on a desktop. The mx17 is a very impressive laptop, but the price is what killed it for me. For the price your quoting your getting every thing maxxed out. I just looked at the alienware site, and you would be getting a qx9300 extreme, dual 4870's, 8 gigs ddr3 and a 256 gig solid state hd. All great specs, Especially the qx9300 extreme! But everything else is only so so if your going to pay 4,300 for a set up. Your paying for the mobility basically. If you were to spend that much on a desk top you would have some thing that would not have to be touched for probably 3 to 4 years. You could get a better cpu a Waaay better GPU, more ram and a bigger screen.
I got twice the computer for two hundred dollars more than what i had set out to spend on a lap top.

I am looking to add a second SATA hard drive to my PC, but the motherboard has only two ports and both are occupied.

The power supply is capable of supporting an additional drive.

What I need to know is how do I go about adding a third SATA port to my motherboard to accomodate the larger HD. I believe I need a card of some sort as well as cables. Any ideas?

anything like that (if the link doesn't work any PCI sata raid card/controller) the more ports they have the more they cost.

then if you've no spare power molexes, buy a Y-splitter (1 female to two male) and a 4-pin to sata power adapter, shouldn't be morethan a few $

Would I be able to combine these or would I be better off just leaving them how they are an installing all the bigger files like movies an shit on (D)?

1 hard drive 2 partitions. It's useful in the sense that if your operating system is installed on the one partition (C) and you put all your music/movies/porn/etc on the other (D) and windows craps out on you requiring a reinstall you can choose to only format and reinstall on the (C) partition leaving all your data intact on the (D). Now if the hard drive craps out you will lose all info regardless.
