Are my "extra" lights useless?

Hey Everyone..
I have a few ladies in my closet going. just switched to 12/12 about a week and some change ago. My brother had to go work outta town for a few months and gave me some of his lights and what not. he had two give or take 100 watt hps lights. Now i only have one 1000 watt mh. ive been doing my whole grow with it so far and when he brought me his lights i thought... red spectrum good for flowering. ive been reading all of the debates about mh vs hps. what i want to know is.... is there any point in having them in my room at all? am i just wasting electricity? OR is the spectrum im adding helping? any advice on this would be great. included are pics of my room so you can see with both lights on.

but my question is... are the two hps lights even worth being on. or does every bit count when it comes to spectrum?

Like buddy said. MH for veg and HPS for flowering. You shouldn't use both at the same time.

Kill the 1000 MH and just keep the 100W HPS, but I would definately get another HPS.

but is 200 watts of hps going to yeild what that plus 1000 watt mh would? ive done entire grows with just the 1000 watt mh with pretty nice results. would i get the same from 200 watts that i would from 1000 watt mh?

the hps isnt mine. i would love to have one but like everyone else im broke as all get out. i wish i had a switchable.

yeah that's the problem. you won't get the same results as the 1000W. Looks like you'll have to use both then. Hopefully it works out for u. Just make sure when the lights are out for 12 hours that it is completely DARK.

I would add the hps to your mh. The bud will grow bigger, faster, and denser with more light. The more diverse your lights are, the more diverse the flavors and chemicals you will have in the plant.

The biggest factor is that your crop will ripen faster. You'll probably shave off a week from your grow. If this is your last grow, and you don't care about finishing this grow and starting another, then don't bother with the extra lights.

But, I'm all for throwing the kitchen sink at my plants to make them as potent as possible. The only thing that stops me from adding more lights is threat of fire.

lol THATS WHAT I WAS SAYING. i mean every bit counts. no it isnt my last grow.... so im always up for trying new things and seeing exactly what works best. this grow is ALL organic. i havent used one bit of anything man made. for ferts i have been using cow poo this whole grow. so far so good. i was just hoping to get a good insight as to weather 2 100watt hps would even affect my girls with a 1000watt mh hanging above them.

surprisingly i never get over 76. tho my humidity is at 28 but that really isnt important as long as its not too high

Shouldn't use both at the same time? What harm will come with running a MH and HPS simultaneously? Seems like more of a best of both worlds situation rather than a potentially negative one. Plenty of folks use one or the other all the way through a grow.

just use the MH. what is better 200 watts or 1000watts? Professionals use MH for flowering. lots of people mix and match. Hps is def. better for flowering. Mh can basicly do the same with little change on the weight. an extra light wont hurt but a couple 100w hps light bulbs wont do anything but add heat.
