MARATHON, Fla.—Investigators in the Florida Keys say they lured a suspected marijuana grower into turning himself in by leaving a ransom note in place of six seized pot plants. The sheriff's office in Monroe County says detectives discovered the plants in a wooded lot and confiscated them.

They left a phone number on a note that read: "Thanks for the grow! You want them back? Call for the price."

Steven Alan Locasio called the number about 10 minutes later. Locasio offered $200 for the plants, and detectives agreed to meet him for an exchange.

Locasio was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges. He was expected to appear in court Tuesday. It's unclear if he already has an attorney.

A telephone message left for Locasio was not immediately returned.

The shocking part is that he called the number.

If your plants get stolen and a note is left . Never call!....

My outdoor grow has been stolen before , but a note has never been left behind...

I would never call the number anyways....

Use you common sense people

Sheesh...

this story reminds me of the way that cops sometimes will send a letter to people with warrants out for their arrests and tell them that they won a free tv, give them an addy to go to to collect the tv and when they show, they get busted..
some people are too dumb for their own good.. i don't know how this dude grow plants being this dumb, lol..

Hahaha!!! Thats a great story.

This reminds me of a raid I saw on TV one time. Cops busted in on a suspected grow house and the owner wasn't home. They took his plants, guns, cash, and his Corvette.

When they were leaving the host of the show retired sheriff "John Brunnell" (if anyone has ever seen those cheesey cop shows on spike you know who I'm talking about) called his home number and left a message on his machinge saying that they had his cash, guns, car, and weed and if he wanted it back to call the local police department.

Needless to say when the guy got home I doubt he called. LOL!! :spew:

Entrapment is a thing of the past.

They can do whatever they want now.

So much for the old American way...

The cops should do time for "selling weed" . While I wouldn't have called, I do feel bad for the grower. This isn't a free country on so many levels.
