I'm not gonna speak for everyone, and I certainly don't know what 80% of the growers use.
Honestly I think most of people on here that grow don't know dick on growing and listen to whatever their plant shop tells them to buy.

Lumens have a shit load more to do with yield than spectrum.
JFYI, I use HPS for bloom.

Lumens are a photometric measurement for the human eye and have nothing
at all to do with plant growth.

Radiometric terms are what matter, they are measured in Watts per Meter Square.

Lumens is a number determining the number of photons in a givin area where
the spectrum of the photon is weighted according to how sensitive the human
eye is to it... The most sensitive colors to the human eye happen to be the most
ineffective colors to the plant detection, meaning a high lumen rated bulb is in
the complete WRONG spectrum for plant growth, not saying it wont work
cuz look at all these retards growing with HPS....

theres the lumens doesnt matter guy, it might not matter when compared to plants but it does matter when comparing HID to HID, im glad your so proud of growing with MH

From what I've seen on here in the last 18 months that I've been on here.
There's only about 10 people on here that really know what their doing and give great advice.
I'm not gonna mention anyones name either.
But I will say that there used to be alot more people on here that knew what they were doing.
Probably more so before I even joined.
There's just too many people on here that don't have the same passion as some as us do when it comes to growing.
It's getting harder and harder to tell anyone advice or start a thread without being insulted or flamed.
Which I believe has driven alot of the good folks out.

Growing great bud and getting the word out is all that matters here.

I was commenting on someones claim that LUMENS mean more to a plant
than something else.....

Since lumens are a term invented for the HUMAN EYE, i just don't understand
how this statement is legitimate.

Maybe if you are lighting a warehouse or a grocery store, or even your home...
But when it comes to plants.. Why would comparing Lumens matter?
.. I would want to know the frequency of the bulb, and and just see a CRI%....

because when comparing lights of the same type lumens is a good way of judging them, just compare a 400w mh to a 400w hps, you say the mh has a better spectrum but the hps will outperform because the hps has more lumens, just because plant doesnt know why the hps is better doesnt mean i dont. You compare lumens because thats what the company gives you to compare, if they start listing photons that would be great. Until you get as specific as LED spectrums, sprectrums doesnt play that big of a role with HID.
