[ph Problem?] 4th Week of Flowering, 1st Time Growing

Hey all,

First off, I just wanted to thank this site for providing me with almost all the information I needed to learn this stuff. Seriously, thanks!

This is my first time growing, started with two plants but one went hermi and luckily my other is a sexy lady.

Now, don't hate (too hard at least) that I am using less than ideal ingredients because of cost factors and no hydroponic stores conveniently nearby.

The details:
-Bagseed (from some nice stuff)
- 136 W CFL (two 68 W)
-Soil (Miracle Grow Organic Choice Potting Mix with sterile desert sand mixed in for drainage)
-H20 about every three days (when it dries), nutes every other watering.
+Nutes:
-Miracle Grow 24-8-16 for veg (5 1/2 weeks)
-Miracle Grow Bloom Booster 15-30-15 (4th Week)
-I borrowed a pH meter from a friend, measured tap water and run-off, and got 5.5 for both. Not sure if that sounds right...

The plant started growing too tall in the beginning of flowering, so I lightly LST'ed it to slow vertical growth.

My problem:
Some (not all, more towards the top) are starting to turn brown at the tips and outsides of leaves. I saw the other post on common problems and I think it might be pH, but I wanted expert opinions.

Any and all help/comments are greatly appreciated

so once i soak the seeds place them in paper towel so once the tap root shows i placed them in rapid root tree bark pods with pre-drilled holes then put inside of a hot house and waited for the sprout to come up once it did i removed the humid. dome i noticed two round leaves. i keep the rapid root moist with distilled water and "super thrive"(vitamins and root hormones) and under floros. the round leaves now r turning yellowish green and two pairs of true leaves r developing they're still tiny tho is this normal?

I would honestly say I would not use Miracle Grow. The stuff just does not work. The only other things is you should flush your plants with a bit of water every week after week 5 but just a tip. That miracle grow is probably what is causing your issue though. Those PH meters do not work either. The only ones that actually work are way too expensive.

is ur new growth healthy? dont worry bout the oval leaves ther suppose to fall off and die jus sum plants do it sooner then later and yes wen ur true leaves come ther tiny at first its still a seedling

i use miracle grow and it werks fine. hes prbly fertilizing it to often.

Did you say your using nutrients every other time? I would lower the amount but be constant with what you give it just flush it often too.

try not to over water at this stage let ur soil dry a lil so that itll devolop a good root system. wen my youngens git like ther 2nd or 3rd set of leaves i then transplant

u use a clear cup? i thought roots hate light? and whats good soil? i'm using promix is that good?

yea i tried it wit red party cups and clear party cups and i dont c any difference. ther not gittin direct light so im not worried but i use black plastic pots wen i transplant

you just need to be careful over watering with miracle grow cause it releases nutes every time you water. a lot of people use it with no problems and if that's all ya got then go for it! Good luck!!!!

i havent put em in soil yet i looked the rootsarent popping out its been like two weeks 17 days some thing like that

are you using any heat pad or anything? it may speed up the rooting for you. roots don't like cold.

hey sire i use a seedling starter mix to germ. i jus soak it and pop it in 1/4inch and keep it warm.

Thanks for the replies all! I have given them straight water twice during the past 6 days, should I give them straight water again in another 3 days or so just to be sure its all washed out? I can try to get my hands on the better nutes by then, but I'm wondering whether or not to use them yet.
