America too much "rather safe than sorry"

First id like to point out im an american, but I was just thinking the other day that generally whats a big problem in america is the lack of using your common sense. Here people try too much to set up a law and forbid certain activities to prevent ANY chance of something happening. What they dont take into consideration is that forbidding things can lead to bigger problems. I just had to think about this after hearing about several schools forbidding any kind of hugging and even giving out detention to little girls giving each other a quick hug. Problem was most parents they interviewed generally agreed it was a good rule.
This being over cautious is really annoying because it takes away so much more freedom than it is protecting.
You can never take away the chance of something happening, but you pretty much guarantee a negative impact by forbidding something in the first place.
Same can be said on the criminalization of marijuana.

I think you have Ron Paul-itus. May be a good thing may not, may actually get him killed. I wish it was the right time to put someone like Paul in the drivers seat, and it is, but the real powers will never let that happen. I'd like to be young again like I was in the 60s when The Kennedy brothers wanted to bring change, I was all psyched up about them. Guess what, they got assasinated, because the real powers didn't want change. History will repeat itself if Paul gets elected, mark my words.

Why would they ban hugging?
Because it could lead to "other things".
Other parents said they dont mind putting an arms around the shoulder but not "full frontal contact". Sheesh, come on.
Ron Paul would do good in the office, but right now we need somebody to fix up the mess were in and hes not the man for the job.

One of the most intelligent quotes ever uttered by a president, "Ask not what your country can do for you but, what you can do for your country".

Because if left unattended it eventually leads to blow jobs in the Oval Office.

Don't ya just love it, a blowjob brought down one of the greatest presidents in recent history. I think most reasonable Americans would rather see a president getting a blowjob, than see one killing 600,000+ human beings, but Maybe not. That reprehensible act of getting your pipes cleaned by a perky young maiden of 21 years (Legal), must drive some uptight assholes over the edge. Insanity abounds.

The blow job was fine, Med ... although I would have prefered that B.J. Clinton got it somewhere other than the Oval Office. Yep, the blow job was fine ... it was lying to the Grand Jury and the obstruction of evidence charges that weren't so fine.

And you wouldn't lie about a blow job if your wife was listening,~LOL~. But tell me, Which is worse, a blow job or 600,000+ dead humans because of a vengeful asshole.

RON PAUL! With that said, I think the country is exhibiting many terror tactics against their citizens and it sweeps across all areas of our lives. Suspends our rights as Americans,
guilty-conscience consumerism, and Anti-establishment is automatically Un-American. It creates and environment where we are scaed to do anything for fear of jail, death or financial hardship. But luckily for us we ultimately have the power to change everything by voting. We just actually need to get out and vote for the right guy (Ron Paul.) Then our lives will be filled with freedom, our constitutional rights as Americans, peace and many more joints and blunts. America is way better than how we are living today. Let's bring it back to life. Go Team America!

i think everyone that posts in the political section would enjoy a book called "The Death of Common Sense - How Law is Suffocating America". it's not left or right, just a nice clean look at how one law leads to another and another until we're all in straight jackets staring at a blank wall so we don't hurt/offend/scare/whatever anyone....

I live in the State of California. It is beginning to resemble a state in the Soviet Empire. There is NOTHING the state legislature doesn't want to regulate, nor is their anything these fools won't spend money on. California is so anti-business its ridiculous. Gasoline is the highest in the United States here in California because of the special "environmental" blends we have to use. Taxes are stifling businesses out of business ... or out of state. Many parts of California look like a third world country, no business signs in English, and these days, most businesses answering machines say: "For English press one. For Spanish, press two." We are becoming a bilingual state. Our voting instruction booklets are written in, I think, four languages. Long gone diseases are making a come back due to the FLOOD of illegal immigrants coming across our southern border from ALL OVER THE WORLD. Hit and run accidents are very common here as the illegals don't want to be caught. No insurance, no driver's licence and no common sense. Some of the criminal gangs have migrated north from Mexico. Many of the immigrant's children become wannbe gang members. Honesty, they look like assholes with shaved heads, pants below their skanky asses ... and walking around in an intimidating manner. I grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and remember when it was safe for families to walk in the streets or kids to play outside all day long without a worry in the world. Not anymore.

it's strange how people will hold out hope till the very last moment that the government is actually going to follow through on promises to "fix" the very things that it broke.

Move to Vegas. If you move to the upscale part of town, South end, you will live in a brand new world, literally, everything there is less than ten years old. The only beaners you'll see are the gardners, then I could come and visit and see what a millionaire actually lives like,~LOL~. Don't worry, I wouldn't steal anything. I don't know if you play golf, but there are about 20 golf courses in that part of town. Homes start at 1,000,000, about the price of a piece of shit in CA., and those are pretty nice pads. For 5 Million you could get the primo set up and help me build a fuel dragster,~LOL~.
