I want to cool the light for sure but I also want to SUCK out the SMELLY air.

Should I just get a regular reflector then?

Going to use a CAN fan rated 424 for a 40"x40"x78" grow tent. 600 MH/HPS. DWC system.

I sure like them. room stays much cooler. I would use a second fan to vent the tent. and one fan just for the light.

I want to get away with just 1 though. couldn't i just have the ducting right on Hood and it could do 2 in 1?

Air cooled are the only way to go IMO. You can use one fan, either leave one end open or attach a carbon filter to it, both ways its sucking air from the room out.

I use 2 enclosed hoods 1000 hps and 1 fan hook to the carbon filter
the fan sucks threw the filter and then pushes threw the lights and out
might not be the most productive method but works great for me and
keeps the heat in check with no smell

It's a must, you can put the light closer to the plants and get fatter nugs+lower room temps,I have tried using 1 inline fan hooked up to the hood and filter which works decently in winter but not so good in summer since the room usually is warm.....I get better results with pulling air from the outside for the hood..... that way is more efficient for cooling...plus won't suck out Co2........if you use Co2...I use a separate inline fan+carbon filter and circulate the air in the room for odor control

So this is enough air room?

will it be a big difference than if I just attach ducting to the END of this one:
