I'm having this same problem right now! My plants are three weeks old and I just did a water change yesterday, and I added full strength Fox Farm Grow Big nutes. Everything was good last night, roots looked great. I just now went to check the PH and it was fine, but then I noticed some browning off the roots. I added a pic first one was yesterday before adding nutes and the others are today! Is this the same thing you have going on? Is it supposed to do that after adding nutes! And most importantly what should we do now! Hope someone can help us!:wall:

OK I am using Fox farm nutes, they are working awsome in my DWC. There are a few rules to go by though. First carefull with organic nutes like BIg bloom. they introduce lots of living things that breed in the water and clog up roots and even cause root rot or under oxygenate the water. Now if you have a problem use a couple of table spoons of H202 for 14 gallons or so(hydrogen peroxide the 3% kind you have lying around the house). This will kill all the living bacteria causeing the root rot, it will also oxygenate the water. So if you need to Foliar feed with big bloom once a week. Or give a pinch in the res. all the rest of the fox farm nutes should be fine. I find that if I have deficianceys the fox farm trio packs do the trick for remedy (use this chart, print it,its the best http://www.greenmanspage.com/guides/tables.html).

Now I have found that when I lower the Ph all day long everyday it is very hard on my plant/s. I think that plant is getting way to much potassium (or what ever chemical is being used in the PH down, can build up way to much salt). So your plants take up nutes when the ph is right. So in a sense when you balance your PH you are in turn feeding the plant. SO when you add water or nutes, balance the ph, or balance once a day or every other day. Your plants dont need fed every min of the day. Also, put one air line/stone in your rez per 1.5-2 gallons of water. They love it. see if that helps you out

I did use fox farm nutes before in this same system but i did use less nutes last time than I did this time. Also this time I am using a 400 watt HID last time I was only using CFLs. I think Its both the lights, and the nutes. Too strong of strength on the nutes too early in the plants life . And light is defiantly seeping through my tote, I need to cover the top and sides with plastic or Mylar for now until i can paint it. Good luck!
