ok so im thinking of growing 15 plants. im going to try the SOG approach. im going to 5 at a time and each week im going to add 5 more until i have no more seeds. i want to do a cfl grow. my question is how many cfl bulbs do i need and how many lumens in total to cover all the plants during flowering? i was at home depot and i saw a 125w cfl i thinking of getting 8 or 10. any thoughts? oh and im going to do my grow in a dresser. im going to take out all four cabinets and make it a grow box. idk the dimensions all i can say its not to small but it aint super big lol idk if that helps. also i want my first grow toi be succesful what should i invest into other than soil, nutes, lights and all that good stuff. also if anyone has exp making grow boxes out of dressers and have pics or ideas on building one, that would be FUCKING amazing im not a craftsman lol

p.s I MISS TOOLTIME :(

For 15 plants, I believe you need more than 8-10 cfl's. Someone told me at least 3 cfl's per plant, but I'm pretty much a beginner myself so I'm not too sure. Good luck with your grow! :bigjoint:

If your doing the SOG method, You can easily have 8 bulbs for 15 plants. You just have to have the right setup. The grow area and light positioning really has to be chosen perfectly.

SOG stands for Sea of green. Meaning that you grow buds not bushes. As in... If your using clones put them on 12/12 straight away. And if your using seeds it still can be done easily. Pretty much so that the lights dont have to try penetrate throught the leaves. You just grow one big head nugget. The use of it is so you can fit more plants in one room. Also, you have a beter bud to leaf ratio. Read up, its easy.

for the cost of all them cfl's you would be better off buying a 600w hps from htg supply

ya i no what u mean but i want to go with cfl to experiment and see the difference for myself. can anyone tell me approx. how many daylight cfl i need to veg 15 plants? and how many many soft white cfl to flower? also how many whats i read the less the better??? i was thinking of using the dutch method so correct me if im wrong would that mean i wouldnt need as much light since its all going to focused on the one bud and nothing else? i mean the more the better but since theres not gonna be much leaves or anything of that sort not that much light is required???

I never heard of the dutch method but if you do go with the cfls's and your doing sog you wont be veging that long so Id use like 10 6500k for veg but flower the more the better I d try and get atleast 4 27w 2700k per plant thats alot of cfl's if your gonna do 15 plants and even thats not alot of light for 15 plants.check out 1000bulbs.com they got great deals on cfl's and other lights. The hps will benefit you so much more for sog and wont take up half the space as all them cfl's.Imo you should start with like 6 or 7 plants.I also never seen a sog done with just cfl's you should start a journal im curious to see how it turns out.Good luck with what ever you choose to do

With them fem ww you should just grow normally it will pay off alot more in the end with the final yield. If your trying to grow for profit your not gonna be able to with a cfl sog setup you wont yield that much.Just please dont start them ww off at 12/12 grow them normal it will pay off so much more and you would even be able to make more money off them like that.Id recommend growing them out normal take clones then setting up the sog from there.

I don't believe so, If you don't think SOG is beter then your obviously not a good CFL grower. Look at Doctorbudgreengenes. He's using cfl's. How would doing it normally increase the yeild if he's trying to use less cfl's? Keeping them small means you actually have space. You really think he can do 15 full blooded plants in his grow space... think people. I do SOG CFL from seed. But one thing i think you don't know is that they arent going to be just bud with hardly any leaves. They will get to at least get to 2feet tall. Read up, Look up about SOG CFL etc. The thing you have to see is HPS users don't reailise how much power we save and not having to get a air cooled hps and geting heaps of ventilation etc. HPS is good for BIG grows. Or big scale SOG, SCROG and what ever. But if you doing 15 in a Dresser you dont want to grow bushes. Peace out:bigjoint:

However if you do the cutting to SOG thing would be even better, but... It'l take longer and if your still doing 15 plants, i doubt you can fit how many clones come off them, People do think that seed SOG is hard and you may have to trim a little but i do it monthly, when my camera works i want to show people that dont think!@@!. So think about it the scale of your grow and decide and goodluck.

ok im thinking of still doing a cfl grow but if i have the money i will get a 400w hps. im going to grow the WW normally and the 10 free beans using the dutch method and sog method then compare the both. i decided to do it with the free beans just incase shit goes wrong lol. im going to start a journal soon and keep you guys updated. this should be a interesting experiment. i will be using the same light for both strains wether its hps or cfl.

p.s how did u no its 4 profit and just 4 me 2 smoke lol good call

pp.s i will also be comparing both quanity and quality.

ppp.s im hungry :/
