topping your plant

hey guys, got a question. i have durban poisen and i topped it awhile ago. its kept in vegatative state, but i havent seen regrowth from where i topped it. my other plants have Y'd by now but this one seems a bit constipated. any idea how long this process normally takes before im suppose to see new growth?

I think that when you top it, it splits off into a Y shape, causing two main colas that grow from the branches to the side of where you topped. I have a plant that has grown to 5 ft that I had topped during veg. I can see where it was topped because instead of one main stalk all the way up, it has one main stalk about a foot tall that splits into a Y with two main tops. There is no new growth where I had cut, only a split in the stem. I would say just wait a while until the plant's stems to the left and right of where you cut grow more, you'll see the change.

If you FIM, you will get new growth at the site of where you cut.

if you topped it, it shouldnt grow back. this is how it'll look depending on where you topped it. i did mine a little late so i got alot of thick stalks (if it were naked) lol

You should have seen new growth within a couple of days, not from the cut but from the next two branches down.

topping causes some stress to the plant.
the recovery time vary depending on the genetics, health and conditions of the grow room. Some strains react better. You should lower the fertilizers a bit when the plant is stressed. Optimal conditions makes for a shorter recovery period.

I had plants that died from topping and plants that shot new shoots in less than a day.
