Clipping off some of the lower branches for clones will not hurt the overall yield at all
It is called lollipopping worm, it allows the plant to focus on the upper buds instead of those bottom wispy ones
A lot of growers do it to increase yield and airflow

If you MUST have a clone of it then take a single lower branch for a clone. It will take several weeks to root. Don't remove any leaves or branches if you can avoid it.

Fast water uptake is a great sign. They are easting well.

You'll start smelling in the next couple weeks.

Awesome!

I actually took a clone about 10 days ago from my White Widow plant. I put the clone in its own small bucket (wit net basket/rockwool) after dipping in it rooting gel. The two leaves are still VERY droopy...but there is already new leaf growth coming from the top. I dont see roots coming out of the bottom of the basket, but you're right...i heard this can take time. Ive added "thrive" to the smal res of the clone as well - I hope that will help. This clone is sitting in 12/12 with the rest of my plants...Im guessing this is NOT a good idea? better then nothing? will it grow?

Mann...my ladybugs look good, there are lots still alive since ive added them a few days ago...but there is still new holes on other leaves. When I sit in my grow room for long periods of time I can kinda noticed LITTLE flying SPECS. I cant tell WHAT they are...but they look like TINY little flying bugs. They are SOOO small you can barely see them...but when I shake the lower leaves I usally see a few zoom away...any idea what these could be? could they be what is causing the holes in my leaves? Will ladybugs get these fuckers??

oh, I took a fan leaf off my plant and dried it out..IT STUNK LIKE DOPE :)

I clone in rockwool but i hand water it to keep it from getting too wet. Think moist, not wet. Larger fan leaves can sometimes not recover on clones as the plant registers quickly that it does not have the root structure to support it and flags it for death. Sounds like you have fungus gnats. Very common and pretty easy to get rid of but I'm not sure if your ladies can eat fast enough. Gnats are very prolific.

Wanna get rid of em? Find a parith pesticide spray. I use "Fox Farm 'Dont Bug Me' Spray". Made from chrysanthemum flowers. Yes, it will kill your ladies too. :(

I appreciate it DST - thanks for checking out the ol' Nasty ;-)

Im thinking I DONT have fungas Gnats...I cant find anything in my net baskets/roots...I still see a few more holes in my leaves (usually NOT caused by gnats). Im hoping for the best. Ill pick up sticky paper tomorrow and hopefully ill catch a sample of my culprit.

The ladies are still growing FAST...

What did you end up doing about the males roots? Were they all entangled with the other plants' roots?
If there is dead roots in the rez than I suggest using either a high percentage h2o2 or Hygrozyme (if using organic nutrients) to eat away the dead roots
Can you post a pic where all the plants can be seen? That video kinda left a lot out yah know?

Sure thing Tom - Im geting a few pics together now. I have to pull the pics from video I took earlier because my lights are now off until 8am tomorrw morning.

I added 100ML of 3% H202 about 8 hours after I chopped down my male WW. There were a LOT of roots tangled that were left behind! I also added thrive to limit shock to the other plants.

Most ppl say to add H202 every 3-4 days...since my situation involves WAY more roots then typical root rot, can I add more often??

Thank man, pics on the way

Well if you were using the higher grade peroxide than I would say yes
But due to you using the 3% adding more every few days will mess with the pH and and might have ill side effects
I guess you could but watch the pH a little more closely. I would maybe wait for a second opinion though as I am not 100% sure on this

Hey Nasty,

Yea, cool vids man. I am probably a little late but just thought I would let you know something I found out about cloning.
I have taken clones at veg, two weeks into flower four and six weeks into flower. All were taken from the lowest branches in a scrog. They all rooted. Just took time. If you figure the amount of time flowering as the rule you will be real close. Like 4 weeks into flower will root in 4 weeks.

I havent tried 8 weeks.

oh thanks dude

I took a clone in week 1 of flowering and kept it at 12/12 (I dont have veg/clone room YET)

Im still toying with turning my spare room closet into a 18/6 veg/clone zone..we'll see..

The clone is doing okay, its grown some leaves but still hasnt rooted...hmm..

All the ladies look great by the way guys. The LARGE cola you see in my videos from last night is from the Himalayan Gold..

The himalayan grew approx 5 iches in 24 hours, a little more actually. I installed garden posts to keep my plants straight, which is also allowing me to measure verticle growth. My HIM-GOLD started as my slowest plant, but is now taking off, and blooming well before my SLH, LS, and LA-W

Clones should be done under low intensity lighting. The HID is counter-productive as the plant wants to grow rather than set root. 24 hr light under a single cfl will do the job.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys.

I'm thinking of building a small VEG/CLONE room in my closet. I have a bunch of 42W CFL's...but I dont have a "light holder"/Lamp that will give me a good clean setup. Do you guys know where I can find a good CFL light fixture for growing? I REALLY want to avoid building my own out out of L-bracket light buld sockets and taping them together blah blah...I get very paranoid when leaving lights on for 18 or 24 hours when they're all duct taped together and stuff. I would rather invest a bit of money for a good clean setup. I want a setup that can run clones, as well as take care of VEG. I will build my own hydro system (dwc/aero rubbermaid) - just looking for lighting advice.

Thanks as always guys
