I thought the conversation would be of a benefit. The mistrust comes from a lack of understanding of how whites and blacks both feel. Most white people I know feel like they know exactly how blacks feel because most don't make a secret of it. It's the whites that are afraid to speak up for fear of being labelled a racist (I know because I used to be one of those whites). I don't expect this one conversation to change anything but this is how progress is made..............one honest conversation at a time.

Social programs, no matter how well intentioned end up destroying the community bonds. Blacks, I'm sorry, ... negroes have been a prime benefactor of those programs, and they have suffered the most by them. Good intentions, horrific results.

Is this not a reasonable fear? I've had forthcoming blacks in the workplace tell me that any disciplinary action taken by a white manager toward a black employee, and any hiring or promotion of a white candidate over a black candidate WOULD ALWAYS be met with a charge of discrimination because the intent is to intimidate white managers with the threat of being called racist.Well in fairness to him he did acknowledge one of them............I think.

I was once called racist for reprimanding a black employee for sleeping on the job. It was a wakeup moment for me when this woman defied her race-baiting handlers in the union and stood up and said no, this man is fair and I was sleeping on the job.

What occurs to me is the alarming degree of denial exhibited by the Al Sharptons and other race pimps regarding the legitimacy of the crime statistics cited herein.
Look at how Bill Cosby was vilified for having the nerve to speak out on the cultural degradation of the black nuclear family and how it contributes to the severe erosion of lower class black communities.
My contention is that the race pimps actually exacerbate these problems.
For shame.
It is long past the time that these issues need to be discussed in the open.
My hunch is that it may be too late.
Black children need their fathers.
BTW, Harry Reid is a doofus.

The current deplorable state of affairs is not what MLK envisioned or desired to achieve.
In most respects it is the very antithesis of his dream.
Jesse and Al have been almost as destructive to the acquisition of King's dream as the shameful white segregationist racists. Most white bigots have been exposed for the hate mongers they are.
The modern race pimps rake in the loot by maintaining their destructive race baiting and trouble making.

Back in the day the nice name was "negro". Then the nice name became "black". Now the politically correct term is "African American". I've never been able to wrap my brain around this phenomenon. Fair enough that blacks don't want to be called "negro"; it's too close to the other "N-word". But what's wrong with "Black"? Is it really that offensive?
