Help. My buds are turning brown after Harvest!

Please. Somebody. I can't figure this one out.

It is my crop of white widows that are 11th weeks into flowering. I was so happy two days ago when it came time to harvest. After flushing for a few days, I started snipping away and I hung them in my dark closet to start drying. and thats when it started to happen...

I notice one of the colas shrinking and turning brown in the past three days. A few others began to follow. There is no sweet odor of marijuana, instead it smelled like...well, dried grass. literally. Now the conditions of thedrying process? well it there was no light. during the night it drop to 55 degrees. humidity was at at 45%. I was starting to think it was the temp so I moved the buds to the oven (there it stayed at a good 80 degrees) The aroma began to seep everywhere. I was happy thinking that I resolved it. But when I checked on it at the end of the day, the shrinking and browning continued now with ALL the buds. I am thinking I amdrying wrong. But I don't know what I'm doing wrong. there's no light. It's the proper temp. and its low humidity...its in an oven!!!

So I'm thinking maybe its Bud Rot. But it then again, there would be signs before harvest. it was nice and pretty before and only started to decline after harvest! I am very sad. my whole harvest gone to waste. I would like to think that the learning experience is worth its value, but I don't even know what the issue is!!

So please, Anyone...can you help me figure this out?! So that I can stop crying myself to sleep?

Take a look. The first two is Before I Harvest. They look okay.
The second two are after taken two days into drying. They look like little brown shit turds. WHY?

WW is a plant with a 3 month budding cycle as far as i read on nirvana when i bought my seeds, though ide just look for signs of ripening buds. Also the buds dont look like they are browning just the thc is browning but thats normal though maybe i am missing something in the picture

white widow can be left to go 11 weeks, but it all depends on the what the plant tells you, trichomes, hairs receeding in the the bud, etc.

the only time, i see buds turn brown is when you cure your buds for a year or so, the trichomes all turn amber in return you get an excellent body stone with a redish/brown tint to your buds.

try to get pics with your flash for better diagnoses.

no I look at at the trics. they are milky white. in fact White widow trics does not turn auburn. what is browning is the small bud leaves themselves. Could it be bud rot?

Over done but still smokerble it will just be that little more head strong. But some strains will darken up during the drying process but i never seen it that dark though.

If you squish it and it's all nasty them it's mold. If it becomes fuzzy then it's mold. If it breaks up fine then I believe it's just the hairs and trics. My pot often gets a golden tinge after being dried from all the resin.

Ur all wrong. WW is a 8-9 week or whatever strain. IF! All of the growing conditions are perfect. That meaning what the breeder grows in, and with.

maybe you should read what the breeder states the flowering time then buddy. 9-11 weeks for Nirvanas and green house's is similar.
Now if grow in Hydroponics and the strain was grown by the breeder in soil you may get it down to 9 weeks. MAYBE. If you do everything absolutely perfect and have no hiccups in the flower stage. Good luck with that

^^^I've had plenty of WW go to 11 weeks. Strains vary widely even within a pack of seeds. I think that you just had sooooo many hairs on that bud, it just looks like its brown from the shrinkage. I can still see the normal calyx color beneath all that fuzz. I would only hesitate from smoking it if it smells moldy. Otherwise, blaze it up and let us know!

Youll notice i said or whatever, BUDDY! I dont do WW so i dont know week-age. My point was, if it says 9-11 weeks. That is what the breeder is pullin. Breeders have the most optimal growing conditions, so thats when their harvest is ready. A 9-11 week could go 11-13 depending on conditions. Like i said, i dont do WW and the weeks were a mere estimate.

Ps, get Mr. Nice Black Widows. Those are the originalz..1

i have had a few widow grows and had the same thing happen. mine usually take 10 to 11 weeks and some batches turn a brownish color and also lose some odor. what i found is that after giving them a good months cure they taste and smell like fine wine with a donkeys kick! :bigjoint:

dont know if this will help but after 15 years of growing i swear by this curing process

I hang dry for 3-5 days until the buds are crispy but the stems are still bendy and don't snap. Plenty of airflow is key, a few fans are plenty.

Once they're crispy I cut the buds from the stem and put them in 2 gallon ziplocks to sweat out the stems and the inside of the buds.
After 12-24 hours of sweating I and sit them in box lids as trays, any improvised tray will work...

After about 12 hours they're crispy again, and I put them back in the bag...
After another 12 hours they're wet again, and I sit them in the trays...
Once they stay crispy after 12 hours sealed up, they're done, and the curing process begins...
You want to keep a little moisture in the bud, and open the mason jar every now and then...at least once a day for the first few and then just watch for sweating on the glass
Fermentation takes a couple weeks, all of the complex sugars left in the plant material will ferment into simplified sugars that have a sweet sugary taste... Uncured herb has the bitter taste, and if you don't promptly remove the leaf before drying you'll have a chlorophyl "plant" flavor
