---> HELP! TEST Soil PH <---

I have a liquid drop test kit. I take a soil sample. Soak it in fairly neutral distilled water for 5 mins. strain over a paper towel so i get a runoff that is clear.

When i test this runoff i get a neutral ph. Then when i squeeze the napkin for a second test the ph is around 5.0.

Whats the best method to test with liquid kit?

Water your plant enough so that you have water in the tray underneath your pot. This is runoff. Collect that water and test it's pH. That is your pH.

Thanks that makes sense for the future.
i have seedlings so i havnt watered enough for runoff yet. The soil is fairly moist to touch 6 inches down. Im waiting for them to dry out a bit before i water again. Ive just been doing daily misting to keep topsoil nice and moist.

One of my plants roots did a u turn. The root goes down maybe 3/4th inch and hooked back upwards. The topsoil is very soft and loose so it had problems taking place. Growth is very slow but small leaves are green and showing progress. Both white widows did the same thing i reseated the other one and its doin fine now. For some reason this one is having a bit of a hard time getting the leaves out. I can see they are growing between the cotyledons. They just wont spread. Im on day 8. I had high temps for few dats during early growth 80-86. Ive cooled down to 75 now and waiting to see if i see any improvement. There not yellowing just very slow.

I never test my runoff, i read on the soil bag for what PH it has, im using BioBizz all-mix wich has a PH of 6,2-6,6 and i water w 6,5PH water. I do test my plant water though b4 watering. I feel that testing ur runoff says u nothing if u using soil...iono if im right but I havent had any needs to test the soil PH so far...also check so that the soil u using has all micronutrients needed for the plant.

Yea its some miracle grow organic shit. My fox farm didn't come in time. The bag says one thing but its usually acidic when you test it. sitting on shelves at home depot even mold and stuff start to develop. Had to make sure that i hand mixed it properly to stir air into it and break it up all the tough chucks. One thin i don't like about miracle grow is that it has large pieces of sticks and wood chips.
