Whats that stuff on my weed??

Is it possible for weed to go bad and get fungus on it? I have some regular mid-grade weed in one of those humidifier jars that I've had up on a shelf for like a month. (I haven't smoked it cause I've been getting waaaaaay better shit lately lol) I opened it up yesterday and saw that it has like white crystal looking specs all over it.. but this weed didnt have any visible trichomes on it when I first got it so I dont know where that stuff came from... I started thinking that maybe its going bad and growing a type of fungus on it? lol is that possible or am I trippin?

Humidifier jars?

If your putting moisture into a sealed jar, WITH herbs in it. That is probably mold or fungus

anything with trapped excessive moisture will get nasty

Thats why when your curing your herbs, your supposed to first let the herbs get crispy, then put it into a sealed jar and open it every once in a while so that moisture doesnt stay in there and mold your herb

So I should keep the herbs in a sealed jar but without the moisture?

yes.. and if they in fact do have any kind of mold fungus growing on them, i wouldn't recomend smoking it.. it could make you rather ill.. you could use it to make some hash or edibles wtih instead of smoking it..

I got the idea from the dumb guy at my head shop. They sell these humidifier jars with a top that opens and it has a little black ball inside that youre supposed to put in water then place back into the lid of the jar. The lid has tiny holes in it to let the moisture in the jar to keep the weed fresh...? So I take it this is a bad idea? lol

It's probably good to keep it in if its for a couple of days, but storing it for long periods of time with moisture leads to problems.

So just for a few days if the weed seems a little dry?

Def.. I learned that when I left a orange peel in mines n it got alil molded up.. Took alil loss... Maaann

Ummmm, lemme think about it for a second.............Yes! There are so many b.s. contraptions and gizmos aimed at stoners and growers alike these days. Some are legit and others, well, let's just say they are not so legit. I'm guessing this is the latter. Sorry about your herb. :-(

So what's the best way to store your herb to keep it fresh?

I have stored bud in good ole' fashioned quart mason jars or ball jars for many months and never had a problem with it going bad. Make sure it's not too moist when storing bud for long periods or it will mold. I learned this the hard way. :leaf:

Oh yeah dnt Leave the carrot in too long... I would try not to.. Fridgerated a few times.... N I left the jar open n aired out each time... Wrked for me
