Penalty for Growing Marijuana

Hey everyone! I'm brand new here.

A quick question: exactly how illegal is growing marijuana, specifically in New York? I've tried finding answers with Google but haven't found anything extremely useful or specific yet.

I don't intend to sell or even to smoke (can you even believe me)? I smoked a lot when I was 16 and 17 but soon before I turned 18 I started to dislike smoking very much. Getting high made me really edgy and out of it (compared to when I first started to smoke and I absolutely loved getting stoned).

Despite not smoking, I still think marijuana is a magical plant. A friend of mine deals and I go to his house often just to smell the smoke and examine the buds. I even ask him to smoke it in front of me so I can watch him enjoy it and smell it myself. I somehow get a natural high from being around marijuana but not smoking it.

Anyway, the point is I simply want to grow for my own personal reasons. But I'm very afraid of getting caught. I do not want to end up in jail simply for growing some plants. So, how serious is getting caught growing in New York?

Well it all depends on how many plants you have.
I got busted with 1 plant in ATL and they let me go. I was soo excited. Lol.

If you go up against some zealout judge, throw this at him:

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

So if saying a plant should not exist on this earth, you are saying that god did something wrong and we have to fix it. So by punishing me, you are saying that god is wrong. I did not invent this plant. I did not create the cannibinoid receptors in my brain that causes the unique effect in humans. Your god did. So because this plant has an effect on humans that we didnt have anything to do with other than consume it, it should not exist in nature and must be erraticated and those who do consume it, punished.

Sounds like some garden of eden scenerio. Does that make you god or do you just play him on TV?

Also point out that you have a full time job, you pay your bills on time, and you have no history of violence or theft. Not that any of that will work, but we all know the truth.
