For once and for all WHICH TENT is best or worst and why? The HydroHut, Secret Jardin, BudBox, HomeBox or the GrowLab by HomeBox. The HydroLab, or the Greenroom?

(PLEASE DONT TALK ABOUT CHEAP INFERIOR TENTS ON THIS THREAD. ONLY THE ABOVE TENTS AND POSSIBLY ANY RUMOURS OF SOMETHING NEW TO THE MARKET TO BE DISCUSSED. THANK YOU)

Ok, So there are various threads on various sites here and there mentioning the odd tent and how peoples grows are doing etc... But not a great deal of feedback about the best tent on the market today, no detailed comparisons even though some of these threads started a couple of years ago. I'd like to settle this once and for all, by mainly discussing rooms of:-

From my perspective, as a potential buyer i'd be interested in the following:-

* BUILD QUALITY -
I prefer quality over budget tents with thin materials etc. But then i'm not going to spend a fortune on a tent either. What is the quality of the materials used in these tents actually like? What's it feel like? Is it thin is it thick? Is it sturdy or is it flimsy? How many layers thick is it? What about the quality of fixtures/zippers/steel frame/corners etc. How much weight can it carry? Does anything easy break? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

* IS IT 100% LIGHTPROOF? -
Nobody is interested in just what the manufacturers have wrote on the front of the box, we would like any feedback from people who have bought any of these tents, can vouch for any of these claims? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

* IS IT POISONOUS? -
Various tents "were" known to give off poisonous gases when used with HID lamps and thus killed plants. Some manufacturers recalled products and a new line of non toxic tents were released to replace the old ones. What is todays feedback? Have any of these manufacturers failed in addressing this issue (as is claimed by one manufacturer on thier site) and still poisoning your plants? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

So having done alot of research, but not actually seen any of the tents for myself, I have narrowed what is apparently todays best tents on the market and am aiming to gain as much feedback as possible from you in order to guide any potential buyers including myself in the right direction? How would you feel if it was your mum buying the tent? Which would you advise her to buy if she craved quality? not just value for money.

Well I thought originally that something that can be zipped up and is capable of keeping CO2 confined in there it was worth it. Mind you that I bought the small one that is about 28" by 60" by 76" high. (Closet size) It was the new Hydro Hut silver edition. I like the exhaust ports they offered in the HH. The construction is solid and the quality is there. I think it was reasonable at $270. But when I move I'm going to build a large tent and probably use velcro for the sealing of the white poly material.

$270 for a small tent like that reasonable??? IMO you payed WAY too much..... All those Tents are on ebay and amozon for less than HALF that.....I got a 4x4x6'8 for$130 with shipping delivered to door.....you should do a little looking around before you buy dont pay retail for everything. And if you are order it from your local growshop so you dont have to pay shipping if u order it from a magazine probably pay extra let the local store eat the cost and you save.........

im just sayin 30 by 10 feet of pandblack film is only like 40 dollors, staples 2 dollors, im just sayin much easier, cheaper and it ensures qaulity, but if u want to spend that kind of money on a tent go for it, i biult a 8 by 8 room and 6 feet tall for under 50 dollors their was no light leaks and ventalation was geat, do what u want though ill stop posting here cuz you seem set on spending alot of money for nothing peace

My secret jardin has lasted 2 years, zippers are a little bit of a bitch
(they jam up a little bit, but havent broken or came off track...), but
they claim there are no phytotoxic chemicals which can release from the
material.... I have a 4x4 and a 5x5, and both have more than paid for
themselves.... There are miniscule light leaks, i'm talkin maybe 200 micron
size holes which you can barely see.... Not even large enough for a pin to
poke through... all in all I have loved the Jardins....

Secret Jardin & Home box are the only two grow tents on the market worth talking about both are made of steel framing both have windows and are 98 percent light proof and both have interior stealth repelling material to transform as much light to the plants as possible. I am personally a fan of the secret jardin product line and own two for myself and have installed them in a few homes of some friends who are CA and NV patients. If you get the right box because as you are aware cheap brand tent boxes creat toxic fumes that kill your plant. So considering the right box with the right amount of light, temp and air circulation you can produce massive buds that will blow away any high dollor closet box or any wood design with staples and so forth. I have even seen custom frabricated tents with huge diameters because using a tent creates a indoor (green house) there quite amazing and i would recommend heavily upon secret jatdin <SCOUTS HONOR LOL>

note on the newer secret jardin tents they have fixed the issue on the zipper lining and the zipper itself, FYI: i never had a issue at all myself with the secret jardin dark room 150

Made with a solid frame and treated against rust, the DarkRoom is specially lined with a 95% reflective hammered effect mylar cloth which increases light intensity and therefore improves light distribution.

I have a Sun Hut LG for vegging and a Sun Hut XL for flowering, and they work great (broke a zipper on the XL, but that was more my fault than the tent).

Going to buy a DR240 for my expansion, and I'll let you know what I think of that in a few months when I get it.

I really like my Homebox XL. Since this is the only tent I've purchased, I don't have anything else to compare it to but I am very happy with it. I got it for a steal ($130), its super easy to setup and tear down, the skin is thick and zippers are heavy duty, and it doesn't require any additional parts like port flanges.

My only complaints about it are the small number and placement of the ventilation ports. Also I wish there was a viewing window so I didn't have to keep it open all the time.

And I am more than capable of DIY but I'd rather have something that looks good and is easy to tear down if necessary. Stapling panda film to a wooden frame doesn't fit that description.

HomeBox fans might be interested in the GrowLAB series of tents... A joint venture between Everest Garden Supplies and HomeBox... Not only do they claim to have taken the best features from the Secret Jardin DarkRoom series of tents, but also have the benefit of it being manufactured by HomeBox too.

I agree with mcpurple. The best tent for me was the one I built and I don't think that $$$ = quality. Not everyone does shoddy DIY work.

Ive built three grow room of various designs, and your right about the shoddy DIY work, infact im the complete opposite to the point i plan and pre build my rooms on CAD software first, then build to specifications i have thought out for months. I even designed a room 2mx2mx2m which was 100 percent lightproof, waterproof, airtight and could still be dismantled in 6 seperate pre-fabricated sides (also built by myself) in the even of having to dismantle it in a hurry.

The main reason this thread is not about DIY threads is because:-

A - I cant be arsed to put all the thought and effort into building a high quailty DIY space of the above specifications (because i wont settle for Shoddy workmanship, and think if i'm gonna build it, then i may as well build it right.

B - Tents are by far superiour to any DIY setup in terms of mobility, and discretion.

C - I am looking to buy a tent myself, so in some respect this thread is to answer my own question, and im sure many other people also feel the same way. I'm sure i saw a thread about DIY rooms somewhere else... jog on.

I used pvc, panda film, duct tape (black and white for the respective sides), and velcro for the door. No light leaks which means no air leaks though the tape would give if the tent flooded. It's as sturdy as it needs to be, very lightweight, easy to disassemble, and only took me a few hours. Everything a commercial tent is for about $60. That's the best tent in my opinion. I wouldn't waste money on something premade and I don't believe the "premade is always better" line of thought.

I agree that it is possible to create a nice grow room from scratch but in my opinion the price difference for (Superior) home made box and the quickness of ordering one or going to your local hydroponic store and picking one up just doesn't equal up. I too have built my own grown room before and was happy with the outcome. But I was way more happy with my 30 min set-up on my secret jardin grow tent. They look way more nicer, they have been built to do exactly what you need it to do. I have not had one problem with my tent im running 8 dwc buckets and am confident that im yielding as much as possible with the dimensions of my tint, I never had heat/circulation issues and I never had issues of getting around in my tent as long as you give yourself the right type of working area.

basically if you know what you are doing no matter if it is a tent/box/room etc your going to grow massive buds, i recommend the tents especially secret jardin because everything is already in the right spot so you dont have to worry about not having right circulation etc. I prefer the tents because of mobility/access/ and the straight fact of convenience, You can build good boxes I have seen them but I belive if you use the right recommended materials it will cost a lot more money then a tent, and im not talking crappy materials im talking, clear duglas fur wood both sides finished plywood, good matte primer white roll paint, flat white spray paint, good screws, cocking, chrome grid, double side hammer finished reflective material, insulation, air tight and light tight, placement of air vents all kinds shit....

and i got windows in my tent. got windows in your growbox? open the window take a quick photo shoot send it in to rollitup.org in a home made grow box? now if i found a person who could do that i would probally by one there boxes lol.

or i can go online click a button choose order payment and type in my address?

i have had friends build superior grow room boxes before but they spent a large penny. your better off dedicating a room to the grow if your going to do all that.

Of course pre-made isn't always better thats why the person created this thread is to find the "BEST PRE MADE TENT" so we should probably stay on topic, create a thread on how to create the best grow box from scratch tutorial.

I have 2 Growlabs: GL145 (4'9x4'9) & a GL145L (4'9x9'6) I love them. Steel framing, solid construction, 2 and 3 windows respectively and they both completely unzip all the way around. The walls come down easily. Multiple exhaust and utility ports with drawstring closure. Roof holds more than 100lbs. Adjustable lower screen vents all the way around.

Both would get 10 of 10 stars in my book.

So I've been pondering a perfect tent setup:

Big sealed tent (growlab of course) 4x9 minimum
Cap Ebb and Grow Hydro System (2 gal hydro buckets)
RO water system
55 Gal Nute Reservior
55-100 Gal Chilled Water Reservior w/ chiller (crucial cuz it replaces the ac)
med sized Dehumidifier inside the tent
Water cooled boxes that cool the filtered air w/ carbon filter in the tent
HydroGen water cooled Co2 generator
Good environmental controller w/ Co2
Enough hoods and 1k watt lights to soak it all

Some good seed and some good juice and away we go

I didn't mean to hijack the thread, I just think it's something that a lot of tent shoppers are thinking about.
