Does This Include Everything?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a 150W HPS grow light system (one that includes the lamp and ballast, and bulb if possible). I found this but I don't totally understand what it comes with. It says "Enclosed Ballast Light." Does this mean the ballast is actually a part of the lamp or something like that? Any information is extremely appreciated.

Here is the link: http://www.elights.com/sun900552.html

Thanks!

Some HPS systems have built in ballasts, this looks like this is one of them. The only downside is that it weighs more and presumably creates more heat. I would get a HPS system where you can place your ballast outside the grow room so it doesn't add to any temperature issue you may experience.

There's always a slight danger when using these lights, but it has nothing to do with whether or not it has a built in ballast. The most important things to remember are not to touch the globe with your hands or get anything on it. Putting it in a closet doesn't cause any danger in itself.

Exactly how dangerous is it to use these lights? Are there any statistics on how often they rupture or something like that?

I would shop this a little more, my local hydro shop sells this lamp for $80 and includes a bulb, this apparently does not. Buttery is right the ballast is built into the lamp and it will create some more heat and will weigh more. I don't think that it is dangerous in a closet but, I suspect that you may run into heat issues. Do you have a vent plan? These 150s are not that hot but, 16 hours in a closed closet? Good luck!

I haven't come across any statistics but you have to keep in mind thousands upon thousands of people use these lights for thousands of hours on end! I tend to be a bit paranoid myself so pls dn't feed off my paranoia :P Most people will tell you it's completely safe : )

Thanks for the info. I actually do have a ventilation system. There're intentional cracks in the doorway of the closet and I've got 3 computer fans running. Will that be enough ventilation you think?

Once again, I agree with Buttery. Just make sure that nothing touches the bulb, this unit will not accept the glass that some other unit will to control heat and make sure that nothing touches the bulb. Don't let ANY water get on it.

I dont think so..If you dont have an exhaust you will just be blowing stagnate air around and the few cracks wont be enough to move that air out...you might get away with it early in the grow but will definitely need an exhaust later in the grow
