Hey thanks for checking in, new to the hydro and am building a clone starter hydro box and know I need a ppm meter I am broke and unemployed so the cheaper for now would be great. I found this one and wanted to know if this will do the job for measuring nutrients for MJ Hydro

That should work fine, I use a hanna pH tds ec combo meter. If you dont have a pH meter you need one... especially in hydro... the combo meter is perfect. 130 or so on Ebay, 200 at most stores.

So your 32 dollar solution is perfect if you already have a pH meter. Or you could just buy both.

Thanks---you see the seller on eday said I need to read it. So I did but I did not know that I needed it to read 4figures instead of 3

Yes I have a Ph meter for water and soil
2 seperate meters
the soil was 8 bucks with light and moisture Homedeepthroat special and the Ph for water just ordered it for 15 delivered from another eday seller.
easeasongear dot com I assume? or at least a meter that reads into the 4 figures 9999 ppm if it is US increments
What about this one?????????????????????????

Thanks.

I do not know why ob kenobi thought that one would suffice?

I just borrowed the growers bible and hope to read that and get what I can out of hydro instructions. Looking for a How 2 to hydro from start to finish...
I went to wallfart and got and plastic shoe box, pump and aerator stone too see if I can grow or start a pond before I invest in that system.

yes, eseasonsgears has an ebay store , i have the blue HM, once your ppm goes above 999ppm it will show you a blinking 10x for anything over 1000ppm, for example 120 10x is 1200ppm

Ok so is that the difference---ease of read?
Is that why you suggest the 4 figure read out? Maybe that is what obi kanobi does on his? (his flashes?)

So I thought the meter needs to read from the low 100's to about 900 ppm from start to flower NOw it seems that the readout goes much higher (a bit confusing) i will check the bible and see what lord jorge says, I am new to this and was just trying to get the right tool for the job without dumping hundreds to see if I like hydro.
I have soil experience and so far not bad.

BTW--what kind of reading do you get when vegging mature-- I know sprouts or clones get like 0 for a week then yellow and add a .250 of the recommended nutrients say calls for 400 go 100 for first few days to acclimate Yes--No?

how about for flowering?

no no, obi kron probably didnt notice, but during late veg early flower theres no doubt you will exceed over 1000ppm with the use of any nutrients, most companies will take you to 2000ppm but you shouldnt take they;'re word for it, they want you to use more nutes and buy more, as for clones and sprouts we all have our methods. let me share you my method, i have very clean tap water less than 40ppm, many people who own Reverse osmosis systems have 0ppm, with water like this it is good to add 100-150ppm worth of calmag, never anything higher than 200-250. now for me i start in 1in RW cubes, between adding cal-mag i throw in some thrive alive and maybe root 66, including everything like i said no more than 250ppm, i know people who have tap water that comes out higher and they are just fine, with this method i never get leaves of clones go yellow, and just a general overal healthy clone or seedling. on another note, its not about ppm, its about exactly whats in your nutrients, higher nitrogen solutions will be used for vegging and higher potash in flower, some strains cant even handle 1000ppm at the height of flowering and some can eat like pigs, after a while with a strain you will know exactly what she wants when she wants it, your dead on about 1/4 strength, but if you dont have the experience just stick to plain water for clones and seedlings, i just told you all the stuff i put into my water, well these are additives, not standard fertilizers, these have very little nutritional value compared to a standard growth fertilizer, are ya still with me?

Thanks a lot for the insight on the meter and starters for clones. I went to the hydro store local and they agree with a 4 figure ppm meter. i made a bubbler used 6. ph in it do not have a ppm meter yet. But the guys at the store said our local water is pretty good straight out the tap. I use superthrive .250 of recommended strength for spraying nutrients on the leaves.'
I read the bible and Jorge says that it is better to reduce nitrogen for cloning as that stimulates root growth and Nitrogen helps with growth from soil up.
So off to order that ppm meter---thanks for your help
