Vegging MH or CFL?

There's a dozen babies breaking ground in 16 oz party cups. They're under 4 CFL's that'll do the job until the Flowering under their 250w HPS.

My question is should I invest in a 250 watt MH bulb? (is it worth the $30)

try to convince me! Thank you!

Try my ass your babies will thank you for the MH with better growth ie: veggie\roots = better nugs!

You will have much more lumens with the MH than you have with the CFL
More lumens equals faster denser growth
Yes I would suggest investing in one

Hmmmm.... $30.00 for a light ?

What's that like 2 grams O' weed ?

They will do so much better under the MH.

Just my $0.02

I would keep clones/cuttings under a large CFL, or four T-5's.

Use your HPS for flowering.

No need to convince, that is how I would do it.

He is talking about vegging seedlings though, I think that MH would be his best bet
I do agree though that for clones t-5's work great

How big is the grow area? A 250 watt MH is only good for 2' x 2', so it might be a better option to pack in a few more CFLs for better coverage, and more lumens per square foot. Both setups will work, if you do the math and provide enough lumens per square foot. Shoot for 3,500 minimum, and you'll have some happy plants. :)

Also, a 250 watt MH will never cover 12 plants effectively, after they get bigger. A 400 watt MH would do the job better, although won't perform well if the area is bigger than 3' x 3'.(they'll stretch. I tried it)

Ya it actually is just a 2x2 area, and i'm only planning on vegging them for about 3-5 weeks.. would that change any opinions?
