Can this guy get anything right? I'm beginning to doubt it....

So much for innovation and advancement in technology on this side of the pond. Wasting BILLIONS of $$$ in his first year isn't enough for this rube.... now the end of an era.

Thanks Obama!!

America: Lost In Space

Achievement: The nation that put the first man on the moon may have put its last as budget cuts slash NASA's plans to return. Men will return to the moon, but they will likely speak Chinese.
On May 25, 1961, President Kennedy announced in front of a joint session of Congress the dramatic and ambitious goal of sending an American to the moon by the end of that decade. It was a clarion call to the American spirit and technology to rise up and prove that America's best days were still ahead.
Forty-one years after Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon in 1969, rather than continuing on to Mars and beyond, we will soon be hitching rides on Russian spacecraft to fix toilets and conduct science-fair-level experiments on the International Space Station. Our aging space shuttle fleet is about to be retired, and no money is around to replace it.
According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel, when the White House releases its official budget proposal on Monday, there will be no money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return Americans to the moon by 2020. The American-manned space program that galvanized a nation and made manned space flight a reality will be officially dead.
An administration that complains about the outsourcing of jobs and manufacturing capacity to foreign countries has decided to outsource manned space flight. NASA will buy rides for its astronauts, no longer pioneers but rather space tourists, from the Russians at $51 million a seat on their Soyuz space vehicles. Last May, NASA announced a new contract with the Russians allowing it to buy six seats on Soyuz craft in 2012 and 2013 at a cost of $306 million.
The massive Saturn V that sent American astronauts and their Apollo spacecraft to the lunar landscape is now a museum piece, as will be the space shuttle. NASA needs about $3 billion in additional funding each year for the next five years to keep the space station supplied and to create a new generation of spacecraft. It will not be getting it.
The loss of this funding and the retirement of the space shuttle will have "a huge negative impact on the economy, particularly aerospace," according to Bret Silcox, associate director of the National Space Society, a leading advocacy group. Silcox says Florida, where three shuttles will be retired, will lose 2,000 to 7,000 jobs. Apparently no stimulus money will be spent to save them.

So Bill Shatner was right after all.

Space is the final frontier.

I suppose NASA resources are much better used in an attempt to lend credence to the Man Made Global Warming hoax.

If he goes through with it, and if people notice and get pissed, the finger of blame will be pointed at:

a) George W. Bush
b) Evil corporations
c) Both a and b

In much the same way as President Johnson.... Obama will again sacrifice our space program for entitlements ... which will be pissed away.

Same solution, same failure.

That's leadership..........

Yep that is definitely some bullshit.
You conservatives make me sick. :spew::spew::spew::spew::spew::spew::spew::spew:

If Obama funded the return to the moon, you would be crying about how he is throwing money down the drain.

No mater what he does, he is wrong in your eyes. Or at least that is how you like to spin it. Shit, if Rush was the POTUS and made the SAME decision, you guys would be bending over, taking it up the ass, and declaring how "brilliant" Rush is.

You are all a bunch of hypocrits.:fire:

Oh, and PEACE. Make love not war. And remember to wear a flower in your hair!

I was pisseed when Bush was taking away funds for NASA as well. The Kennedy Space center almost closed and still might. Don't take away NASA money or force them to do Climate change BS.

There's nothing that stops private companies from investing into space reasearch. Just just stops forcing all americans to pay for it, especially now when unemployment is over 10%. Tell someone whos been out of work and trying to support their family, that space research is a 'good investment' for the future that they should be happy to pay for.

It's the one program that has actually produced something ... yah, let's get rid of it.

We should let private companies invest in health care, especially since unemployment is over 10%. Why force all americans to pay for it.

I'm guessing that NASA employs a few people. Do you think NASA should be researching climate change because Obama is still funding NASA but for climate change.

So we have at least one poster (upNorth) who is against a USA Space Program. Good to know....
Not even close to what I think. My ONLY point is that ANY decision Obama makes causes the righties to get their whities in a bind.

I wish conservatives would stop deciding for me what I think. At least I am not a ditto (is that what you are called?) and am capable of an independent thought without consulting with Rush first.

Calling for a return to the Moon was one George W. Bush got right.

Well, here's my Conservative take. We should be on the Moon now. The Apollo Program should have never been canceled. The Republicans did that if I recall correctly. And it was the wrong move.

We should have a colony there collecting Helium-3 and conducting all kinds of research. Think of the observatory we could have on the dang Moon.

But no, we throw our NASA funding away on the Orbiting Science Fair (ISS) and the Man-made Climate Change hoax. Meanwhile the space bus is obsolete and we have nothing to replace it with in the near term.

But I do not lay that at Obama's feet.

But canceling the Constellation Program?

Obama owns that one if he can pull it off.

Oh no. You "caught" me. Anyone who has read my posts know thay I am gay (queer to you mister). Don't you re-pukes even have a sense of humor?

My weird posts are meant to blow people's minds and make them laugh. Most intellegent non-conservatives relise this.

A few years ago I had finished making a delivery with my dually and a big enclosed trailer behind me and was at the red light waiting to leave a certain Hotel in Walt Disney. So my light turns green and because of my trailer I slowly start to accelerate. Just then a guy goes right through his red and I just clipped the back right fender of his car, which spun him around to a stop. No damage to my truck at all...

Anyways a security guard saw the whole thing and came over. the guy in the car was ok and admitted he was looking at his map, late for a conference at a Hotel. It was the Hotel i was pulling out of . He felt a bit sheepish.... but we had to wait for the real cops which would be 45 minutes they said.
Turns out he worked for NASA in California and was a pretty neat guy. I pretty much told him what you just posted JO ... I felt cheated...I told him I remember Armstrong landing on the moon, and that this was just the beginning. What the heck is with the Space Shuttle. Why are the Saturn rockets in a museum? Where's the moon base?

He understood completely. One word... he said one word. Politics. Politics trumps science.

No, Obama isn't responsible for it all, but this is the same turtle mentality from before.

In thirty years some of the youngsters here will be saying the same thing about this time in their lives.

I've seen a ton of space launches, and I never tire of them. It reminds you just how lucky we all are to be in this country.

It's a symbol, and shouldn't be punted because Obama is out of $$.

He's trading the countries future for today...and that's not right.
